NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Gordon’s role is the squad may be up for debate, but what isn’t is the fact better teams than us are trying to buy him. That in itself makes me want to hold onto him, and all of our better players! He may not hit the numbers wanted this year but why weaken ourself and strengthen a team we’re already lagging behind?

Gordon still needs to reach 'decent' never mind 'elite'  [emoji38]

He has been decent, though. Inconsistent at times, yes, but so has the entire team.

What’s strange is how his good performances this season either get brushed aside or, even worse, twisted into something negative- “he’s only turning up against certain teams to force a move.”

It’s a bit unfair, to be honest. I do feel for him.

We are Newcastle UNITED for a reason. We actually feel united. The players seem there for each other, the fan base are experiencing unexpected highs after the years of hell under ashley and the genuine sensible ones realise that this is a really good period for us even if this season is shockingly hit and miss. I don't want rid of Gordon and I was super proud when Elanga got cheered. I love us being the supportive club. I think that might be a huge thing for keeping our best players and getting the best out of them. I'm not saying folks can't criticise when things are obviously wrong but let's not forget where we were with no hope and no future. Now we can dare to dream, even if some of our performances have been less than spectacular and we keep getting outbid for players who would make a real difference to us. I forget my point, but I love this club and love that we've got into the position we're in.

That Martinelli swap rumour as daft as it sounds and they never happen, I wonder if the haters would snap your hand off

To go in goal? It's a yes from me.

Please let that just be lazy journalism along the lines of "they tried to shop in the PL loads last time".

Seems a good keeper from my relatively limited exposure to him but would cost a bloody fortune from a club famously good at selling for mega fees and there's a hell of a lot to do with the rest of the squad this summer.

Have I missed something about Verbruggen being expensive? I know Brighton tend to get a lot for their star players, but I've seen nothing about him to suggest he's at that level.

He’s just a standard Prem keeper imo, nothing special.

My impression of Verbruggen is that he's a classic shithouse of a goalie that's always made a big contribution to them fucking us over at SJP. No idea how good he is really because I go out of my way to avoid that club, but our next signing for that position has to be absolutely spot on. Brighton are a bona fide talent farm so no beef in principle with us shopping there. A quick glance at their forum seems to suggest the prices being quoted re Bayern and (surprise surprise) Chelsea are tempting, but they do fucking love selling players.

Should be going for van Hecke if we're looking at Brighton

Saw something online that we're likely to make Ramsdale loan a permanent for £20mil - surely not

As long as we sign a proper number one I could live with it. We do need a backup goalie and I'd be happy to say so long and fare well to Popey at this point; feels like he's run his race here.
