My issue with Phillips is if he can't even be arsed under Pep at Man City then why would he be any different if we bought him ?

Pep just publicly apologised to him for not playing him as he doesn't fit what he wants to do mindnso more going on than that. I think we'd be better off going for a creative midfielder but wouldn't turn my nose up at him.

Zirkzee from Bologna looks fun. 6ft4, 22 year old, joined them from Bayern summer before last for €8.5m. Scored 8 in 17 this season.

Almost bought him in FM20. Agreed a contract and everything but couldn't get a sale through in time to get enough in the transfer kitty.

By the time I'd raised some money & went back in for him he now wanted so much in wages I still couldn't afford him. Cunt.

I think Phillips coming in January would be a sensible one, especially if it’s an option to buy on loan. I’ve been really disappointed with his lack of development at City, however do believe Howe can improve him a lot. Suppose the biggest question is how long will it take for him to be at the level of sharpness Howe needs to function effectively in that role.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if we ask about Lloyd Kelly in January, contract expires in summer. Plenty competition for him though I’d expect.

I don’t want either tbh

Phillips is a bit similar in style to Tonali - I want a 6 who can play is all 3 roles but can specialise as a 6 if needed (ie Bruno injury or rest) - Tonali can do this but I want someone more physical - to me that’s Yousuf Fofana as I mentioned before

Don’t want a left footed CB - so no to Lloyd Kelly - a Leny Yoro type seems the most perfect fit

I definitely agree we need a specialist #6 midfielder. Wanted that to be prioritised in the summer.

I think based off of Isak and Wilson's injury record this season, a new striker who can play across the front line if needed, would be more essential than a midfielder. If we can afford both, great.

Especially with Miley coming in and doing so well. I know it's a lot of expectation to put on a 17 year old, but whoever we bring in has to be demonstrably better.

Just don’t see how either of these players propel us to the next level, we need players to improve starting 11 when everyone’s fit, or we’ll not make that jump.

Yep - bar Bruno - we don’t have one - no point in getting Phillips as he can only play the 6 (can cover CB) too - Best buy someone who plays as a 6 and 8 is quality in both positions

Sigh ...

Mentioned him loads on here when he was with Kompany at Anderlecht, on loan from Bayern.

He is quality. Weird how Bayern never really gave him a chance despite some bright moments for them.

Someone was super against Kudus in the summer. Wouldn’t accept he’s even talented.  Who was that? That person doesn’t know ball.

I was desperate for us to sign Kudus, he would have been so perfect especially during our injury crisis as he could play anywhere across our front 3 or even slot into CM for us

Fair enough. Whenever I’ve seen him he hasn’t stood out; pacy wingers with poor decision-making, end product and a lack of footballing brain are ten a penny these days. He wouldn’t represent a significant upgrade on Almiron for me.

He’s also painfully average in a  weak league where talents don’t always work out in the PL.

It was McCormick who didn't rate Kudus at all.

Most people thought he was a talent at the least.
