so he wasnt a ridiculous signing after all.

The speculation was "Eddie didn't want him", "Not playing him so not to trigger the obligation to buy". I admit I wondered why he was getting no minutes but he's class. Trust Eddie timed it right.

Couple of times today caught myself just being stunned at how quickly this lad has developed. Just the around composure and confidence in his game now compared to when he first got games.

I was one of those perplexed why we weren't giving him a run during that injury crisis. I totally get in hindsight it looks like Eddie played a blinder, but perhaps he just needed a run to get up to speed like he eventually got later in the season.

But even so, I didn't expect him to look this comfortable as our starting left back so quickly.

I don't know. It's probably a combination, but he wasn't this good when he was introduced to the team, which indicates that actually getting game time to build confidence and experience was a bigger factor in the success we see now.

Playing at such a high level and will only get better. I imagine he’s learned loads from Trippier

Worth remembering to factor in the positive affect he'll, undoubtedly, have had on the two younguns. When people are missreprenting his time here, that is.

I’m not buying this ‘Eddie played a blinder’. It was only injuries that made Howe start Hall towards the end of last season.   If Eddie had rightly introduced Hall 3-4 weeks earlier, there’s a good chance Hall goes to the euros.

But alls well that ends well. Hall is an absolute baller and he’s cemented himself as a Howe purple.

I think both things can be true.

He clearly wasn't ready and we consciously left him out for that reason, however, yes at some point perhaps Eddie should have played him sooner and we may have reaped the rewards sooner.

Ultimately you don't know if they are ready until you test them and when your job is on the line, it's easier said than done.

He's class like.

Yeah, but even this way of thinking is missing the main point.

The kid was incredibly rated and an amazing signing. Whether he comes into the team in month X or month X+5 makes very little difference.

He’ll be class for us for years and always was going to be.

Aye you just expect an assured performance from him at this point. He's come on leaps and bounds even since the opening games of the season.

No doubt there'll still be times when he comes up against an elite winger like Salah and struggles, people have to expect that he will have those games. But you can take those learning curves on the chin if he can be this good in the vast majority of games against standard opposition.

Don’t agree here. Howe got a lot right last season and made some mistakes. I think not reintroducing Hall back into the squad a little earlier may have gotten us the extra 3 points we needed to qualify for Europe.

But it’s a minor detail in the grand scheme of things.  Alls well that ends well. Similar to the Tonali situation.

Thought he was excellent today, calm, assured and just looks so beyond his years. Everyone should be proud of him, and the club for how they have developed him so far. Top work all around.

Calm is the word. On a number of occasions (not just Hall) i was a bit nervous for the players but the players weren't at all and got out situations a lot better than I'd have settled for, a whack clear or whatever, because of that composure.

I don't think Hall looked anywhere near the level he is currently, last season.

He was afforded some, albeit fleeting, opportunities last year but didn't offer anything that screamed must-start. There was certainly nothing in what he displayed that warrants calling out a management mistake or stating with any confidence that he'd had earned us any more points.

It's okay for a young player to be steadily introduced and play when deemed ready, and it seems, given how well he's now playing, it was timed and managed effectively.

He didn’t play when deemed ready. He played as last option.  Lascelles did his ACL. Targett out. Think even Krafth/Tino was out.  There was no other option but to play Hall. He went from getting barely any minutes to starting regularly due to injuries.  ‘Steadily introduced’ is simply not true.  He was bang out of favour and injuries got him a chance. Nothing else.

And this was with Burn being awful at LB for months. And Hall not getting any minutes.

Thats why I can’t give Eddie props for the introduction.  His hand was forced and Hall was excellent.

Hall was poor in his fleeting chances aye.  But Burn was poor for months and kept his place.

But alls well that ends well. He’s got a fantastic career ahead of him.
