wormy Posted Saturday at 16:44 Share Posted Saturday at 16:44 Loved his one-on-one ability getting a shout on my commentary feed. Not in the team just as an outlet going forward but so trustworthy on the defensive side now.
Zero Posted Saturday at 16:45 Share Posted Saturday at 16:45 He looked like a midfielder playing part time LB last season. Now he looks like a genuine LB. That’s a fucking big improvement
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Saturday at 17:13 Share Posted Saturday at 17:13 I never thought his defending was noticeably bad TBH. But now it looks genuinely great.

Checko Posted Saturday at 17:21 Share Posted Saturday at 17:21 I think the main problem before was he was far too aggressive: you've got to be risk averse as a defender 'cause losing a 50/50 close to your goal can put your team in a lot of trouble. He's a lot more patient now and picking his moment better. He's now looking a solid defender who also happens to be great on the ball.

alexf Posted Sunday at 01:35 Share Posted Sunday at 01:35 Yeah I dunno if it was body positioning or what but he would get ran past by wingers so easily last season at times. But the improvement this year is remarkable. I don't really worry about him defensively now especially ever since that Arsenal game. If he had a tiny bit more pace he would be unplayable going forward. Couple of times recently his overlaps have just been ever so slightly out of his reach to cause real damage. But he's still a real threat on attacks.

Disco Posted Sunday at 02:09 Share Posted Sunday at 02:09 Pretty well known he didn’t start playing LB until fairly recently in footballing terms and that he’s getting better at it each game is huge credit to himself and the coaching staff. He’s way better in all aspects of it but still retains his calmness on the ball under pressure and able to jink/swerve past someone is really complimentary to it. Been our best player IMO this season and he’s only going to keep getting better. Would imagine playing and performing well for England has been a huge confidence boost to him too. Long may it continue.
rebelrouser Posted Sunday at 02:24 Share Posted Sunday at 02:24 Our back line is: Hall...Botman...Schär...Livramento. Midfield: Big Joe...Tonali...Guimarães. Frontline: Gordon...Isak...Murphy. GK: Pope (in a week or two) Sometimes forget how good our current starting 11 is.
