Newcastle United 0-1 Borussia Dortmund (25/10/23)

Would like for Murphy to come on. Gordon has been lively, shame about him losing the ball to what was a good tackle to lead up to their goal though.

They could have been easily 2-0 up, so hope we regroup and come out stronger second half.

We've been more than decent this match, we're giving Dortmund a game and despite the table, they are a very good side. Undefeated this year in the Bundesliga. Trusting Eddie to work his magic at half time and to see Murphy on soon and Willock on when he's able, Joelinton looks out of his depth this game, he's really not been on form since his return from injury.

Been quite an open game and we've played well.

They've looked a bit more threatening as they have looked to counter and are doing a good job of it.

Still think we've got a great chance of a result here.

Missing Isak's link up play, which would have really suited this game for us.

Don't think we've been bad but they have definitely been better. Not sure how the scorer had so much space and I think there's a foul on Gordon before he's tackled.

Also, anyone know why the Miggy pen shout wasn't even checked?

Need to try and get some pressure on these second half. Test that sub CB out.

Always been the case, or at least as far back as I can remember.  No other big crowd in England turns so quickly - we’re flappers

TBF if you're going to punch, ffs punch it, to two fist it to their player inside our box was piss poor, that's a reaction to that rather than turning a player in a second.

We haven't been bad but we are getting caught on the break when our full backs are high up the pitch and are a bit slow to get back

Don't know why burn goes forward cos he gets 30 yards out and slams the breaks on and passes back. Might as well hold position just in their box and try give Gordon or Joe some space to run into

I think with maybe not following the match thread minute by minute I’ve got a much more positive view of that half. They looked better than us but only just. There’s definitely still something in it for us here.

The stats will say that they have been much better, but we are sitting back on their attacks and waiting to get the ball closer to our box, they are fouling us before we get to the box. We have caught them out at the back just as much as they have on us, but the referee is weak as fuck and letting them getting away with it. We should have had penalty, a soft one, but one none the less.

ref’s been all over the place like. Definite pen for us, Gordon clearly had his shirt pulled before he was tackled for their goal and he just played on anyway, and then blowing his whistle for half time when Dortmund had a pretty good chance.

Glad it’s not just English refs who are shite.

Think Dortmund have played us perfectly so far. Very dangerous on the break and deserve their lead.

Looking forward to the second half and seeing what we do to try to get a result. These are the nights to enjoy after all.

They've schooled us first half. Hopefully we adapt second half because otherwise we get nothing from this.

They've been so tight to everyone who has received the ball, given us no space to turn or time to play. Have faith in Eddie to sort it at half time though and see how we do playing downhill in the next 45 but that was a tough first half.
