The good thing with Kelly is any sale is 100% PSR profit. So selling him for 20 mill or so. Would be far better value than selling a Harvey Barnes or a player like that.

I'd sell them both..

Thought that was for academy graduates only?

He was signed on a free, so it won’t be 100% I imagine because of signing on fee etc. but it would obviously be much higher than if we paid a transfer fee.

Spurs need a centre back. Might they be interested?

That's honestly a good shout.

We won’t sell him, every club linked is broke and only wants a loan deal.

Juve aren't broke surely?

Not arsed anyway. He's only just turned 26 so he's a squad player for us at a decent age. I still reckon he's a lot better than he's performed so far. He was great in the cup win against Chelsea.

It’s likely a complete myth that a sale would benefit PSR.

free transfers typically get a normal basic wage but a very high signing on fee, probably £5-10m in Kelly’s case - but the model of the signing on fee changed many years ago, it is nowadays a loyalty fee spread over the course of the contract.

BUT

If we sell we have to pay the loyalty fee off in full. So if it’s £10m and we sell for £5m we have actually made a £5m loss.

the only way around this is for Kelly to submit a written transfer request. I doubt we will entertain a sale unless he does this.

You've just made all of these numbers up though, James [emoji38]

I guess this one really all depends on the size of the fee involved. If as rumoured a pittance then keep him. If something approaching 8 figures then you’ve got to consider it from what we’ve seen so far albeit limited.

He doesn’t look like a natural LB like Targett did when he returned. He offers much needed pace that our other CB’s lack but loses a notable amount of headers.

Maybe too early to judge him fully yet.

Hopefully we are also rejecting loan proposals unless they come with a hefty obligation attached

Plus a needlessly excessive loan fee like half the other teams get, too.
