Would like to see his “shots faced” and “shots saved”. This whole “record clean sheets” thing is glazed by the fact he barely has any saves to make in the first place due to Burnley’s back four, Esteve in particular who I wouldn't mind picking up as a 3rd/4th choice CB.

Big fan of Esteve. Interesting to see how well he does in the prem.

If he hasn't already agreed to join, I hope we have another target now that Garcia proved to be a bad rumour.

And be another target, I don't mean some uninspiring premier league shite like Ramsdale.

Still not sure we sign a keeper this window tbh, I think Trafford is the number one target. I don’t see Burnley selling at a price we consider fair this window.

He’s got two years left on his deal, don’t think they can expect anything more than when they went down, which was around £20m mark.

They’re going down again this season regardless if he’s there or not, so better off getting the money and investing into a new long term goalkeeper. That no other clubs are linked whatsoever, makes me strongly believe we have it all agreed in principle with Trafford and it’s just a matter of time,

Prices always depend on supply and demand. If we were the only show in town then maybe the fee remains at £20m. If others are wanting him then the bidding war begins. Regardless of contract length.

Just because he didn't sign, doesn't mean we didn't show interest.

I know! Bad Rumour was that the player had chosen Newcastle as his destination.

I don't know whether or not we showed interest.

Yeah fair. I guess we'll never find out.

The way Trafford celebrated his 2 penalty saves against the Mackems with his Isak impression kinda felt he’d already decided he was coming here. IMG_9244.thumb.jpeg.835442bc1ccdb8808dd4bc714cd56dcf.jpeg

Wish we'd sign a goalkeeper sharpish, for where the land's lying. I could get on board with another year from Purp for our champions league assault, if it doesn't happen

Thought we had a pretty good relationship with Burnley so imagined this was as good as done

Hope that's the case.

I'm not convinced we will get a keeper this window. Howe is a massive fan of Pope, and I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves the goalkeeping side until next year. Obviously I think we need a goalkeeper, who is comfortable with the ball, but as said, i wouldn't be surprised if Pope is still number 1 next season.

We're going to need a second keeper within a year to regardless on who we sign this summer. Can't see Pope being a number 2 and Dubs is off.

Going to be difficult getting a decent number 2 in to play second fiddle to a young keeper destined to be England's number 1.

Good luck Eddie!

I think recent statistics show that if you don't concede too many and don't score you have a better chance of staying up Vs a more free scoring but leaky team. Because of this and another year of experience under his belt I can see Burnley reasonably holding out for close to £40 million.

The pool of keepers in world footy is obviously smaller than outfield players, so if the club really like one now (Trafford or whoever) then I reckon go for it asap. Next summer there won't magically  be a new group of regen keepers to pick from, it'll be the similar list of keepers to now or potentially worse - especially if Eddie is leaning UK based experience.

Just get Trafford. Keep him for 10 years.

If he wants to leave then there's not much point in keeping him.

When Eddie goes out of his way to praise someone who the interviewer hasn’t mentioned it makes me think (irrational I know) that (1) he’s touting them and/or (2) he is mitigating against their likely disgruntlement about a newbee coming in. He did this recently (Chelsea?) about Pope which stood out/jarred a bit. Regardless of that, I think it is nailed on we get a keeper this summer. Do think that he would never give a guarantee to the incomer that they will be no.1 choice; that will have to be earned.
