Wouldn't the rest of the money count immidiately if we sell him? Would free up the wages mind, so better long term. But if it works this way, selling him would hurt our spending short term as the price would be way lower.

You might argue that if we're not going big in January, then booking the loss in this financial year might not be a totally horrible idea (given it then removes the amortised fee from future years). That's me assuming that our lack of Summer spending gives us a significant PSR buffer.

Haven't read the article but does it explained why we signed up and why it was for so much money? I just cannot understand why we do it with PIF supposedly agreeing with it too?

It's because we needed a certain amount for Anderson and they needed something coming back (or forced us to agree to it).

But it's really annoying that we were in such a desperate position that we couldn't make it work with a more useful player or a promising kid from their academy. They sent us what appears to be the biggest albatross in their squad, which shows where we were.

Can’t believe we spent £20m on him, and not some random kid who may come good for championship and get some money.

Guess club felt with him being an international, he could be flipped quick. Dread to think what wages he’s on. Probably £200k between him and Kelly for next 5 seasons :D

There’s no point in thinking about the transfer fee as we got extra for Anderson to cover it. We took whoever Forest were desperate to offload, because we were in a desperate situation.

Lets just hope that if we do a PSR scam again we’re in the position of power.

Worst transfer ever.

It prevented a double-digit points deduction so I reckon it's a means to an end. Such is the farcical state of today's game.

Perhaps the club will finally play the Saudi card. Flog him to a Saudi club for 15-20 million in January, it would release more funds for a mid season splurge which would take the pressure off the summer window a bit. Our fee to Forest as well as his past record and that he is a international starter could be used to justify "fair market value".

We'd be praising any other goalkeeper that saved us 10 points a season.

Dubravka cost us about that last season. This lad must be horrendous if he’s behind that idiot in the pecking order.

This looks like our only reasonable escape from this.

To be fair if the plan was to flip him over to Saudi for 80% of what we paid then it instantly becomes an absolute blinder.

He kept two clean sheets on international duty I'd use him as back up and try and sort a release for dubs.

Aye surely he can’t be as shite as people are making out?

Both we & Forest needed money.  They agreed to buy Anderson for £35m if we agreed to buy Vlad for £20m.  Thanks to the way that transfers are banked for FFP purposes, we bought a player for £20m on a 5 year deal so get to amortize that over the length of his contract so he only "cost" us £4m last season.  The £35m from the Anderson sale however gets included all at once so we made a £31m profit on the deal in last season's finances.  Same goes for Forest, they sold a player for £20m and bought one in on a 5 year deal so they were able to put that down as a £13m profit.

Dubs is comfortably our 2nd best keeper still....releasing him would be insane.

Looked confident for the few times he was involved. Like how he threw the ball out rapidly after claiming it.

Noticed he was always looking to play the ball quickly.
