Highlights why they’ve got most if not all things right though. What bad calls have they ultimately made? Think Man Utd fans would wish their processes were as thorough as ours since their new owner came in and revised things for example.

It’s not the case that KSA’s govt operates like this because they’re expert at planning etc.

If true, they're needs to be more trust put into the people making the decisions at club-level.

I assume this is why we've seen things slow down since Amanda and Merdahd left, as co-owners they were probably able to make decisions without going through that chain.

I think they probably leave decisions on buying players to the football staff tbh. I doubt they are kicking it up to Crown Prince whoever to put his royal seal on it.

Still think it’s a shame he hasn’t stayed on reading that, sounds like he’s supportive but challenging, which every boss should be, clearly rattled some close to Howe, but so what they’re all meant to be professionals, take it on the chin instead of leaking shit to the press.

Shame he didn’t wait and see who the new CEO was going to be, feels a little bit like he’s used Eales departure as an excuse and history says he doesn’t remain in one place very long.

Whole situation very disappointing for me.

Mitchell might have been the wrong choice, but it's pretty clear we need someone to do what he was brought in to do. Source PL proven players before they are proven basically. If we are trying to fight Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea for players that's a losing battle.

Is Mitchell even that good ? as far as i can tell he's never been at a club that has actually won anything, apart from us and he had fuck all to do with that.

Fuck knows, no sporting directors that are at clubs for under two years are any good. They can only be judged by how the club has performed over a period under their tenure of a minimum of three years. There are also tons of variables that make it hard for fans to analyse how influential they’ve been

Not here, no - that we know of - but over the entirety of his career it's safe to say he is.

Where and when ?

According to this he's only been Sporting Director twice in his career. At Monaco and us.

Ok so admittedly im not well versed on job titles and their actual remit, but hes been at Southampton where they became a hot bed of talent under Pochettino, then he moved to Spurs where they made significant inroads into establishing themselves in the top 4, with the signings of the likes of Son, Alli, Alderwied as examples, then moved onto RB which let's be honest isnt a role you get when you dont know what youre doing - his role there included the growth of that clubs multiple club model and saw the growth of Salzburg. He then moved onto Moncao and absolutely turned that clubs fortunes around and also turned them into a hotbed of talent.

His pedigree can't be questioned, no matter how his time turned out here but his failings here seem to centre around not having a manager that is fully aligned with his philosophy- I dont think thats a failing on either person part, just a fundamental difference that doesn't really need exploring. It was what it was.
