Looking forward to seeing his playbook of gems he had hidden from the world unleashed on some other club. Absolute myth his best days recruiting were at a time when other clubs across Europe hadn’t got up to speed. It was just like us with Carr.

Yes, Sam Allardyce was a genuine innovator in the game once, too.

Eales was the whooper who bought him in charge without even giving Howe a heads up. His decision making and basically begging someone to bid for Bruno last year as well as the PSR shit show - its all on him. He's the CEO.

Can't even remember the last time we've heard from him too. Maybe after the cup final?

Truly MIA (for good reason, mind).

By all means I know his illness is very serious and I wish him the best in his recovery, but he's basically been here for 9 months since the news and done what since? Mitchell doesn't escape criticism, him doing that interview last year solved what exactly? But still, I don't know why Eales escapes criticism every single time.

Just been through and checked some of the news Newcastle have released lately, last comment from Eales was in early May on the free pints in the game against Chelsea. Nothing on anything since (Mitchell leaving, STACK extension, Ross promotion, Suds appointment - things you could probably expect to see a generic CEO comment on) and didn't attend the last couple of FAB meetings. So no idea what he's been doing since, still at the club?

He's handed in his notice a long time ago and he's probably not feeling too good tbf.

He’s defended putting ticket prices up again due to the usual bullshit. Apart from that, nowt.

Agree that it baffles me how he escapes criticism from the press; he appointed Mitchell and we have heard nothing from him since whilst he’s still in post. Hasn’t found a successor 10 months after his diagnosis became public.

Especially since he's the one who brought Mitchell here on the back of his Red Bull links.

I think PIF and the Reubens need to take the blame for the lack of Eales replacement. It was stated he would be stepping down wasn't it? and everyone can completely understand in his condition if he can't do his role duties.

But why is a (now estimated) £1 Billion valued club being allowed to be directionless with no CEO for almost a year. Especially after winning a cup and qualifying for Champions league. Not to mention the face of the sporting director role has become for us.

I am getting concerned that PIF have been far to hands off and have not progressed anything since that Adidas sponsorship deal really. That should have just been the start of the growth but it seems there's been very little since.

Eales hired Mitchell. Mitchell told Isak he wasn't getting a pay rise. Isak wants to move.

And so begs the question ... who hired Eales?

With Big Sam i always thought it was thick pundits who were impressed with his ideas rather than people in football
