Devils advocate here but maybe Mitchell thought fuck it, I’ve got a list of young players in Europe to sign and the manager won’t agree to any of them.

Evidence so far suggests PL experience is the driver this summer and can’t imagine Mitchell would be on board with likes of Wissa at 29.

Probably because the very day his job was to start in left us in the shit.

So you think no one at the club had any idea he was leaving and he didn't have a notice period of he had a one year contract?

Not defending Mitchell btw it's evident he wasn't right fit but I do think we are pursuing a transfer policy which he called not fit for purpose right or wrong. And to me, the logical conclusion is he lost the battle for power and influence and was binned/walked as a result.

Exactly, why would he stay to carry through a transfer policy he doesn’t agree with. This is Eddie’s window and next season will tell whether that was a wise move, or not.

Ashworth was the problem. Mitchell was the problem. Insert new replacement was the problem.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Ashworth was secretly working for Mna Utd whilst still employed by us, I’d say that was a problem tbf

Where as I do think these targets are Eddie's preference I don't think our failures this windows are down to him. I think it's too much to ask for him to be abreast of everything. In this psr world just buying players without considering the accounting is obviously suicide.

Eddie is the bastion of truth and honest and has never been economical with the truth.

And again back to my point. Mitchell either had a 12 month contract or he worked a notice period.

Somebody knew he was gone in advance of when it was announced

The Athletic (I think it was) said the club knew weeks before it was announced. They didn’t tell Eddie as they didn’t want it to disrupt the end of the season.

Why do we hate this guy again?

Pulled the plug on Trafford deal. Pulled the plug on Isak's new contract. Oversaw 0 first team signings in his time. Achieved nothing.

Ahhh

Pulling the plug on Trafford was the correct decision at the time imo.

isak contract shouldn't have any impact on what we do today.

Oversaw no signings is an interesting one as it Appears the option was to massively overpay for Elanga or Guehi.

Don't get me wrong I think he wasn't the right fit, our club is obviously a bit more complex than most due to the power dynamics but he also had some positive.

Getting good money for Miggy and Almiron were both creditable imo.

Kelly deal

Given that Eddie has a big say in signings, he'd signed Kelly when he was at Bournemouth and spoke highly of him.......could Kelly have been as much an Eddie signing as a Mitchell one ?

He probably means selling Kelly.

Questions should be asked why hire him, why he wasn’t probably replaced and why his work leftover was not probably handled to other management / staff.

And yes all pointing towards Eales, and, ultimately, the real person-in-charge from PIF.
