When he said our recruitment structure/strategy "wasn't fit for purpose", is this what he meant?

Worked with Andy Howe for a week and then came out with this? Makes you think.

He may well have had a point. But his legacy here seems to be saying that line. I think whilst pissed on stage bragging about how many pints he’d had. Or was that a different fuck up?!

Oh and supposedly promising Howe he’d get Guehi here last summer.

What a waste of fucking time he turned out to be. Maybe just a professional blagger who never lasts anywhere. We all know people like that.

We've got them offshore. Wordsmiths & guzzlers. It's who you know, & who you blow. In his case Eales.

If I had a penny for every professional blagger who never lasts anywhere fucking over the club over post-takeover, I'd have two pennies. Which isn't a lot. But it's weird that it happened twice.

Our transfer targets have been abysmal this summer. Whether he’s to blame, or the manager has too much power over targets, it’s hard to tell.

Whether you liked him or not, of course he was right that we can't beat the cartel in a pissing contest. It's the definition of taking a knife to a gunfight.

It feels extremely unrealistic that Mitchell wouldn’t have found at least a few new first team level targets in the last year given it’s a big part of his job (“90% recruitment”) and with how unhappy he was with the process last summer. Seeing how this window has gone, I wouldn’t be surprised if he left because Howe didn’t want his input and only wanted the players on his own list. No doubt we’ll be hearing his side of it soon enough.

That wasn’t our strategy though.

all stems from CEO issues. Eales is ill, he doesnt care about Newcastle, rightly so. so whoever the CEO reports to (owners) is at fault sadly. a CEO with serious responsibility would have not let Mitchell do fuck all then resign right when most help was needed from him.

I wonder who the CEO does report to though? It's easy to say owners, but even the owners will have delegates for that. I don't imagine A- Rumayan or Reuben sit in on these meetings and make decisions.

Board of Directors, like most organisations. Here's our active board members: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/00031014/officers

Of course they make these decisions, we're talking 10's of millions of pounds in first team player costs.

CEO/Club given a remit to get things done, there will be controls and resolutions in place to what has to be escalated to the Board for approval, and there are likely sub committees on the board that can make decisions without full Board approval. @TRon

That's what I'm talking about, some recognisable names on there. Iv'e been critical myself with how they have let things drift with the Eales illness situation, but even so it does seem like we are still trying to recruit best in class when it comes to CEO, DOF or other positions. We might not be doing it very efficiently, but the intent is there.
