He slips and it was unfortunate, but at the same time I feel like he's really unnecessarily tight to Pedro bearing in mind their position on the field. Give him a few feet and just slow him down and wait for some help.

I do agree. But he plays really aggressively like that. Usually a strength, but he has been rolled in midfield a few times because of it. I think two ended up in big hacks and yellow cards.

He should know better. But everyone was up the pitch from that counter and maybe he didn’t realise he’d be so isolated and the last man.

Shame. As he was flawless again bar that massive howler.

Unlucky today with the slip.

No, it's a serious mistake and he made them in Milano too... if you're the last man you can anticipate Pedro's play (but it's risky) or you stay away and wait for him to turn, he chose the third option of staying close to him which is always wrong in the case of the last man and high ball. Then he slipped (also because he didn't expect Pedro's movement) but conceptually the position he's holding is wrong.

He slipped. Without that most likely no problem dealing with that.

He's immense isn't he? Mateta bullies Schar and Botman but Thiaw handled him perfectly.

He made the one on one vs Mateta in the first half look effortless to put an end to their counter attack

Absolutely love to see him making a mug of attacking players, like. Feels like he skins at least one a game, no matter the opposition.
