Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

Recommended Posts

Brilliant again today. I think he's quite possibly now our starting striker for next season. Not least because he's utterly impossible to value - too little evidence to justify a £50m fee, but too much potential for us to really sell for anything shy of that.

He’s ridiculously quick. He might not always know what he’s going to do in the next second but neither do defenders against him so it’s not really a weakness. His feints are decent and he bullied the lad at LB multiple times. I really like him in a wide right role and he is great at playing on the shoulder because of his pace. Think he’ll always be a frustration as he’ll mess up simple stuff but he’s actually a really great squad option. He’ll want to be the starting striker though

This is probably one of the best things to happen this season, if he goes on to be a 10-15 goals a season striker it takes off the weight off having to spend potentially another £50-60m on a striker

Happy for him, he's improving rapidly.

If we didn't have to play him through the middle, I'd have him wide right over Elanga and Murphy. Brave I know, but nobody else is willing to speak these hard truths [emoji38]

(although I do still love Murphy, best crosser of the ball at the club on his day)

Always backed big willy. Seems like his attitude is spot on. Bit like Murphy - making the most of what you got. Get him on finishing practice and he'll be a menace. Lucky we didn't sell him.

This man is an enigma. I once described him to a mate as 95% shite, 5% Brazilian Ronaldo. The ratio has improved in recent weeks, but he's still too prone to errors you'll never see a top pro make. Skying it at the near post is the telltale sign.

If nothing else, this run is much-needed evidence that Howe can still improve players, and we're surely fetching 40m for him instead of the 30m (?) we almost took from Frankfurt.

The true meaning of a transitional season. Bring through players with one eye on the future and bigger picture. At worst he’s doubled his value as he’ll thrive on the right system.

He seems genuinely two footed too, uses both when running with the ball and has demonstrated well struck shots off both. In fact I'm not sure which is his stronger side

He makes the hard things look effortless and the easy things look hard.

Great character - a really likeable kid - but he definitely shouldn’t be starting many gams for us next season. I will say he’s definitely shown enough to be part of the squad, though I’d still be tempted to sell if we got a decent bid.

Can’t see how we can be selling this lad in the situation we’re in. Maybe if we have 2 strikers lined up to come in, but I can’t see that happening.

We won’t be signing 2 strikers it’ll be Woltemade who goes back to Germany. Selling either of the 2 requires big bollocks though, both have the potential to make us look stupid at their next clubs.

Ideally we get rid of Wissa but financially it’ll make no sense, unless one of the Saudi clubs not linked to PIF come to our rescue.

I’d not actively be looking to sell but if we got a decent bid of £30m or so you have to take it in the situation we’re in.

Unless he wants out, he is a now a keeper for me.  He's shown enough to give him more time.  Wissa and Wolt out for me and start again trying to find their replacements.

He doesn't look like a composed finisher. But then he still looks like a better finisher than Wissa and we paid £55m for him when he was hitting 30 yrs old.

Said it during the match too, he's looking much more refined and mature in his performances.  There's less of the whirlwind chaos and more direction and purpose in his efforts.  If he keeps up developing like this he's going to be a useful player for us.

Would we? Then spend that much again to get someone we can use in his place?

How much would it cost to replace him? I tell you lad a hell of a lot more in today's markets.

High quality strikers under 25 are few and far between, and they cost a fortune to buy.

He is like a young Drogba in terms of pace strength and agility the finishing will come eventually.

You don't sell raw quality like that in my opinion.
