It's a standard negotiating time frame for such a large deal, but it's very unusual for it to be so public. That's what has made it feel like a drag.

Parish and palaces end in general knew exactly what they were doing, tough negotiator who knows we hate deals going public so used it to his advantage to try and push the deal along and force the price up as much as he could. Clever cunt.

Don’t believe being cup tied for the Carabao is that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but regardless of him starting tonight, this deal has never felt close to happening.

We need to move on and fast. CB, RW and likely a RB if Tripps goes.

Until we agree a fee, he's still their player. They won't give a shit if he's cup tied, wouldn't even be surprised if they've done it just to be cunts.

Precisely… he’s their player. As far as Palace are concerned we might get knocked out of the cup tomorrow and they would have left a star player out for no reason.

Still convinced this is happening. It’s just being played out in a ridiculous manner.

Was just speaking to my friend Wideboy Gal from Beckenham and he reckons the word on the South London street is that Guehi is stalling because he doesn’t want to play with a waster like Al-Moron.

What I find strange is there’s no noise about alternative CBs other than Tapsoba last week which wasn’t realistic.

It’s clever only if we end up paying their inflated asking price. If we walk away Palace gets nothing and Guehi probably leaves for half the price next summer.

I think many of us, me included expected this to be wrapped up pretty quickly when it originally broke out of the blue. Since then it’s felt like waiting for Godot.

We’ve had precious little in concrete updates and leaks from the club so perhaps we have already walked away.

Im sort of looking forward to this window being closed one way or the other.

Ornstein can get fucked as well, several times this summer he’s been used by other clubs to make our bids public, effectively scuppering anything happening under any sort of cloak of privacy.

It’s in the context If he gets a bad injury then they’ve lost out on £70m on a player that’s out months injured with his contract running down

If we got an offer for Isak and we turned it down as we had no desire to see. He then got injured for a couple of months - people wouldn’t be saying “we’ve fucked ourselves there as we could have sold him”. It only makes a difference if they wanted to sell.

If Palace have told him we have bid, he's going to report it.

Pretty sure we did the same with Minteh and Romano, and have tried doing the same with Ben Jacobs and Miggy.

Not sure. Can't see us paying £70m for a player who we can't even use in the competition that realistically we've got the best chance of winning.

Whole saga has been a complete shit show.

Pretty sure we're going to end up with either Disasi or Chalobah, tbh. Maybe loan, maybe a cheap permanent.

Would prefer that than giving Palace £70m for a player worth no more than £40m tbh [emoji38]

Are people really convinced that we have no other irons in the fire? That it’s been Guehi or bust for the past month? Not sure what evidence there is for that.

Or he signs a new contract

It’s a risky play, Parish has a history of these

100% convinced of it, which will be clear in a few days. Unless we get someone on loan.

Come on, the Tapsoba link wasn’t realistic? My question is do we want to fill a position or do we want

Guehi which are two different things.

Think we do, but the clock is ticking. And if not Guehi what is the quality on the next target?

Still think spending weeks negotiating to then pay the full asking price would be a worse look than missing out. I really hope we have walked away.

Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool walk in and get that deal done. Man Utd in clown show mode did the same as us with Antony, Sancho and Maguire and got both rinsed and laughed at. Chelsea did it with Fernandez but that was more about release clause payment structure.

We look pretty naive and ready to be taken advantage of.
