If we’ve bid £45m and they value him at £60m I reckon we’ll up the offer to £50m straight cash and £5m in achievable bonuses and get it done.

They are not selling him.

When I saw that stat about Elanga doing the most sprints in the league, I knew Howe would be pushing hard for the guy. [emoji38]

I get the first offer is likely to be rejected, but you don't want to antagonise a trade partner either.

Unless it's @Shays Given Tim Flowers in which case it doesn't matter, because he won't trade with you anyway, so antagonising him is the best possible outcome.

                 Isak

Gordon     Pedro       Elanga

Hall    Botman   Guehi   Tino

                  Trafford

I'd argue that team above is a significant jump in quality for our starting 11.

And before people make the point, im aware of how crucial Joelinton is to the way we play, but how nice would it be to have options; Burn, Schar, Trippier, Joelinton, Murphy, Barnes, Miley, Pope.

In theory, of course. Still all the work to do and id not be shocked of we didn't sign any of those players.

I would pour gravy in my asshole & let the cat lick it out if we line up like that 1st game

Appreciate the club leaking this deal though so it gives us something fresh to work off for rest of the week.

I think 4 quality additions to the first team would probably make it the best transfer window in living memory TBH. It's certainly more than I'm expecting.

Without a major sale that would be close to a dream window, even though I don't 'want' Elanga all that much.

Best transfer windows in memory

1995/96 Ginola Hislop Ferdinand Barton (Asprilla Batty)
1996/97 for Shearer alone

2001/02 Bellamy and Robert were game changers

2015/16 Wijnaldum Thauvin Mbemba Mitrovic were four of the best young players in Europe

2021/22 Jan Trippier Burn Targett Bruno Wood

I'd whack Summer 2023 in too with Tonali, Tino, Hall, Barnes and Minteh

He’s basically the Steve Parish of the league.

Same hair and all.

Summer 2022 also. Isak, Pope, Targett (meh) and Botman.

We have signed some top, top players in the Howe era.

Agreed although that looks very good in hindsight at the time Tonali was exciting and the others were questionable - eg why buy Tino when trippier was one of the best in Europe previous season, Hall had only played a few games and was expensive, Barnes wasn’t as sexy as Paqueta or Maddison etc

If eddie has his heart set on him then he's worth what we decide to pay for him.

To me he is basically a pace merchant but the manager must think with him still been quite young there's plenty to improve and work on.
