That run and then the ramsdale throw was good, if he passes to Barnes instead of shooting, I think we win the game.

But he doesn’t because he’s a head down poor player and we don’t win. He’s been so poor, I don’t think he’s as bad as he’s showing but also doesn’t look like he can get out of this rut he’s in.

I didn't actually mind the one where he shot wide. Yeah he should've passed, but the run was positive and at least he had a go.

Rest of his performance was pretty standard.

A simple pass and we win the game. 55 million for some "positive runs"? Nah i'm done with him.

He wasn't helped by there being nothing on for him when he was caught in possession.

But if there's nothing on then either come back or run for the wing to get further up the pitch.  Which he should be able to do with his pace.  Instead he just walked along until the ball was taken away.

To be honest, it's one of those where if he passes and we don't score (which wasn't exactly a dead cert in that position), he would've been slated for not having a go himself.

I've been hyper critical of him on here but I'm not going to slate a player for trying to score after running the length of the pitch.

Just showed how thick and unaware he is though in truth.

Really should have never been signed, can't be having thick footballers when sums of 55 million are involved.

What was Howe thinking?

He never once gets his head up and has a look to see who is supporting him. When people go on about players with a footballing brain this lad has absolutely nothing upstairs.

If he was trying to dribble past players I’d be less critical, but it’s knock and run or nothing. Amount of times he was up against Cucarella, and didn’t fancy dribbling past him was a joke. Gordon dribbles past people or keeps it close to draw player in and either wins foul / knock past, but Elanga doesn’t do that.

It’s either his confidence is all gone, or he’s just shit. Seriously if there’s money on table in summer and he hasn’t changed things, we have to sell. Not this “He’ll come good under Howe”, because it’s just outright ability that’s not there to give us something to buy into.

He also isn't as fast with the ball as I was expecting, likely due to lack of ability.

He's got to the stage now that when he's running down the wing or has a great chance that I don't even bother getting excited, I just know he won't know what to do with it.

This. Knew that one on one was going to lead to nothing

Barnes would be straight on direct in front of the keeper with only the keeper to beat if he'd got that pass.  Nobody is blaming Elanga there if Barnes missed that.
