This is the modern world though. Everything has to happen NOW. You see it all the time with managers under pressure because they don’t get results immediately. We did it with Eddie.

It’s not just football either. Imagine a politician was trying to get elected and he/she said, ‘choose me and although it might take me two or three years to turn things around, it will be much better after that’. They’d get laughed out of town.

If everybody on here stamps their feet and holds their breath? That might work

I tell you what, some of our fans are really fucking me off this summer. Please stop being whining and twisting idiots, if at all possible.

Friday was all positive with progress on Elanga and Trafford probably happening. Weekend comes in and now we’re impatient again. Literally 2 days.

Agreed but your missing a lot of context in terms of why people are the way they are "reported" public rejections,  "reported" under bidding and "reported" missing out on targets, no first 11 improvements in 18 months, upheaval at board/management level, the managers own comments about working quickly, the fact first batch of players are back for preseason. The sheer level of improvement needed to the side and player traded needed to give the manager the tools they need to survive and do well in a potentially 60 game season.

If we had of not had some of that go on until now I would be sitting here very chill saying there are 7 weeks+ of the window left, not a load of movement elsewhere and plenty of time. The issue is all of the above has happened (how much is true and how much its actually held us back is anyone's guess).

Hopefully a couple in the door that aren't goal keepers will make people chill out more.

Plus there's been some murmurs of a new agent and Forest looking to give him a new deal. It's all just hearsay but it probably sows a bit of doubt.

18 months makes it sound like we signed someone useful in January 2024.

We've not signed a proper first-team player since August 2023. It's 2 years.

That's the source of the frustration

I get this but I don’t understand why this argument isn’t made if we have a bad window, instead of the first week of July.

It doesn’t have to be constant or get loud whenever there’s a day without a confirmation.

Anyway, a boring and pointless line of argument, I know. Soz guys.

certainly not going to reject your outlook as its your own opinion however its equally right for people to be worried/angry that we are looking to work at snail pace with less than "willing" sellers when we have loads to do and not a lot of time to do it but had a long time to think and plan for it based on lack of activity for so long.

The fact that these "close" and "immanent" quotes are used and never materialise feed the narrative of the club acting too slowly and maybe not walking away and moving on in a timely fashion if these are looking to go around in circles, obviously putting a heavy dose of assumptions here.

I'm not arguing it's a bad window.

But we have made a slow start - in terms of actual signings.

That's after 2 years of no signings. And we've no idea who is doing what behind the scenes and none of them have a track record of getting deals done for Newcastle without Staveley.

The frustration is understandable.

And the topic change mentally makes us think the deal is stagnating. We should leave the titles as they are once we update them or unless we get definitive changes. Going back ruins everyone's mood.

I think the biggest reason that people have a slight frustration is mainly because their gut feeling is that it’s gonna take quite a bit more time until we get some of our deals deals done. With every week we are more likely heading towards the feeling of not getting enough in despite having all the time in the world to prepare and get things done.

Personally I’m not too frustrated yet as it’s only July the 7th. But I get a little bit more frustrated when I actually think at the possibility/risk of us not doing enough this window to both strengthen and get a bigger squad to be able to cope with CL. Obviously won’t be pointing any fingers or moan about hypothetical things yet, but the thoughts have crossed my mind, still.

Yes you could say it’s pointless to think about things like this hypothetically until we know for sure. It’s just that this is such a massive window for us and I genuinely don’t think we’ll do enough and get the 4/5 players in that we really need.  No one would be more pleasantly surprised and happy than me if my gut feeling turns out to be totally wrong. I’m just not sure about the people in place having the skill and experience to deal with these sort of things.

Time will tell if course. I’m at ease for now. Hopefully this week we can get a couple over the line. Would be a very welcomed boost.

This forums obsession with make believe links, daft rumours, bullshit ITK's, scouting reports, value for money transfer fees and how to manage deal negotiations is definitely putting the pathetic into hypothetic. Ain't no denying

With Forest not wanting or needing to sell IMO this will cost us 65m to get it done which is more than Mbeumo, Cunha and Madueke.

It’s reported the £55 million fee is broadly acceptable. Just structure of the deal etc being worked on.  All just incredibly frustrating

Nah I'm straddling the line between both sides. I see your logic but at the same time I'm worried we're wasting our window of competitiveness being cagey and trying to earn good boy points while Chelsea and City take the piss. I desperately just need some signings to take the edge off.

Don’t know about others but I sure do enjoy supporting the club like. I imagine that even the most frustrated ones do as well. Then there’s the obvious melts on X but that’s a different matter.

I think it just annoys me when people aren’t enjoying supporting the club in maybe the best period we’re ever likely to experience

Sure, I want signings but I don’t see any reason we won’t get some.

Yeah there's a modicum of Ashley PTSD at play here.

Has anything happened today ?

Nah. Forest are selling Ramon Sosa to Palmeiras, but only for more or less what they paid for him last summer, so don’t think that moves their PSR needle and likely means nothing for Elanga.
