He had a system at Forest that was tailor made for his skillset. He was never going to get that here. Eddie probably thought he could be moulded to fit our style. I honestly don't see it.

Perhaps we could flog him to West Ham for 30m?

On paper at least we should also suit his skilset. It just hasn't worked so far, granted his head looks gone at this point.

Maybe I'm remembering but I don't remember him looking anywhere near as uncomfortable on the pitch as Elanga personally.

Gordon was pretty hopeless in those first 6 months. He only started playing well after preseason.

I didn't even think he was particularly bad when he came on, tried a few bits that didn't come off, but didn't hide. That's it now though, as soon as be puts a toe out of place, he's going to get hounded.

Looking at his time at Forest and his start here, I don't think he's suddenly forgot how to play football, it's more a case of getting him fully dialled back in.

I think part of the problem is we don't really seem to have settled on our style as a team yet. We are switching between high press and low block ourselves depending on the opponents, which is good as you do need to be able to adapt. But it seems to cause confusion among players as to their exact role, and that's not helping Elanga.

What is our style though for a winger? I couldn’t say that for any of our wingers expect Murphy, which is out of feet and deliver cross soon as possible.

Don't know if Elanga is/was good mates with his countryman Is*k and so was probably looking forward to playing alongside him. He lookes depressed in so many ways, we can only guess why.

He should start playing well and maybe Liverpool will tap him up too and he can be reunited with him

There’s plenty of time for the lad to come good - we’re only three months into his NUFC career.  But Christ the lad needs a performance desperately.

He looks miles off the pace and Eddie doesn't seem to fancy him either which is the bigger worry for me.

Very worrying considering he was Eddie’s signing and passed his 56 point check list.

At the risk of pelters, didn’t latter stage Howe at Bournemouth make similar signings?  Paying megabucks for talents below that value.

For sure. Howe is basically not an elite transfer operator, and he tends to engage in power struggles that give him an outsized influence. I think you can chart a regression in our purchases as his influence has grown.

Before the assist I was going to say that was his best half in our shirt, without being electrifying or anything. Had cut out the short passing mistakes, largely linked well with those around him and played a part winning the corner for the opener.

The goal is all about Woltemade but good he's got an assist one way or another and hopefully he can use it as a platform to greater things.
