Doctor Zaius
1 minute ago, Teasy said: The worst thing about the player that gives the ball away often, assists nothing and doesn't score (Elanga) is that he allows the guy who has scored and assisted (including most assists and goals from a right winger last season) to be in the team. I know goals and assists aren't absolutely everything. But it's beyond me how people don't realise that Murphy's pass completion rate is worse than many others because he actually risks losing the ball with crosses and passes. Which is exactly why he gets assists when he does. While others pass the ball back he tries to whip it in or tries a risky pass forward. He had a shite game today no doubt. But the shite he gets is pathetic. I'm not talking about his pass completion rate. I accept that he's got a decent amount of assists. I just think he wastes a lot of the ball. Hes more than capable of delivering a wonderful cross but I don't think that mitigates the amount of passes/crosses/possession that he wastes. Im not giving him shit per se, but I think we've needed a starting upgrade for a while on the right if we want to kick on to the next level. It was supposed to be Elanga but it's not. Joelinton did his midfield work very well for 60-70 minutes, and then faded and gave away the ball. All round a positive contribution and a good performance. Elanga is judged on his ability to be an effective winger, close control, beating a man, linking up with his team mates around the box etc and unfortunately he's failed at all of it almost invariably and rather miserably from day 1. Big Geordie
Looks like the boo-boys have their new target. Some players take a wee bit longer to settle in, than others. Elanga will come good - in time.
SGSC
Did forest play to his strengths more than we do? He’s clearly not a shit player based on his historical output. Is it tactics, confidence, getting accustom to a new team…

But just because people are annoyed that a player who cost almost £60m looks like he can’t do the basics, let alone have a real impact in pretty much every game he plays doesn’t make them ‘boo-boys’ and are more than entitled to share concerns on a forum. I don’t really remember any standout bad bits apart from that? And I think I can forgive him for the ball at the end as part of his adjustment period here - that ball inside to the full back is a very ‘us’ ball to play but it just wasn’t on that particular time. They can't have a go at Gordon tonight so folks are particularly wound up and desperate.

Boo-Boys have always been present among wor lot. Always got to get on the backs of one particular player. Jacob Murphy used to get absolute pelters on here and whilst he wasn't great tonight, he's turned it around and been a key squad member over the last 3 or 4 years. AyeDubbleYoo
Thought him and Gordon were fine to good when they came on. Was actually pleased Woltemade was left on up front as well. Edited December 2, 2025 by AyeDubbleYoo

So you're not allowed to call out a player who consistently offers nothing, a player we seemingly spent a chunk of time, effort and money on? We're all massively disappointed with what we've seen so far, anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. When you see a 50/60 million pound signing struggle with basic 4/5 yard passes week in week out it's difficult to hold your tongue, particularly on nights like last night. It wasn't his fault that we drew but he added absolutely nothing when he came on. Nobody is excited when he comes off the bench.
Menace
It's pretty nuts how many signings have struggled this season, not just at our club either. Gittens, Xavi Simmons, Wirtz, Isak, Elanga, Sesko, list is endless.

The Prophet
Interesting in the games he's started (Villa, Liverpool, Forest, Barca, USG), he's generally looked much better. Alright he wasn't great v Forest, but in the rest of those he was alright to decent. He seems to really struggle to impact the game from the bench, no idea why that is. Still think it's way too premature to write him off, as many are gagging to do, but it's been a shame that he hasn't hit the ground running.

They've recruited really well, that Xhaka signing has transformed them completely. It would be nice for us to take a punt in Europe more often seeing as our European signings seem to have been very good this season. Menace
Howe has signed 14 players with EPL experience and 8 from abroad - thats counting Minteh/Vlachodimos which I'm not sure on his input on either You can decide how to break that down

Until he gets a run of consistent starts especially now Tino is back, we're just not going to see it come together anytime soon. Thought it would have been perfect to start him again at home last night, coming off a good performance. I think he would have given Udogie more problems. Udogie was too quick and strong for Murphy who couldn't get anything going against him. Murphy would have been fine to come back in against Burnley, which is a game that should suit him better. It's a lot easier to succeed when your expectations are survival. A bit like Thomas Frank at Brentford compared to Frank at Spurs. Sunderland are well organised and hard to beat. Beyond that there's not much to them.

Our team includes usually Botman, Thiaw, Bruno, Tonali and Woltemade who came from abroad. That’s roughly half. Anyway, it doesn’t really matter, we only bring it up when the signings aren’t doing as well as we want. If a winger came from Europe and struggled we would need a different narrative. I'm a bit concerned about some clumsy touches, but he's shown some glimpses of what he could do once we settle into a style of play. Saw it mentioned on Loaded Mags that Wissa might bring the best out of him as well, and I thought that was a good point.

bobbydazzla
His last couple of seasons show he's not a shit player, but since he signed for us he's been playing shit. Calling him worse that shite and a wank player who was a waste of money is guaranteed to make him play better though. So let's keep that up aye. Why show encouragement and support to someone who clearly needs it, when you can criticise and BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
