If this is referring to a player that has Elanga's qualities plus others, he's not costing 55m at all. What’s common and lazy is people on this here forum thinking they’re transfer experts who can identify, scout, rate, make a bid, persuade a club to sell, persuade a player to accept and then get the deal done for seemingly any player they think we should sign Edited July 3, 2025 by bobbydazzla

Holloway
Just get it done, fees are largely forgotten once the action starts. Eddie could take him up levels, it's exciting in that respect

Unlucky Luque
He'll be absolutely lethal when we play the NUFC 22/23 brand high-press counter against better teams. He'll be frustrating as hell when we need to unlock a low block. Hopefully we get someone else in for that. I'm all for it, but he does strike me as a slighlty one-dimensional player for a certain type of game, like Barnes and Willock.

As I’ve said I haven’t read much about him. EH liking him is a given He’s rapid, two footed, young, has played in the prem, been successful in the prem, had a great last season in a team that massively overachieved, he‘s successfully moved clubs before so is more likely to adapt to a new environment, he has friends in our squad, he seems like a canny character and plays in a position that we’ve needed to strengthen since 2021 Edited July 3, 2025 by bobbydazzla

Chelsea just signed Jaime Gittens for £50m basically the exact same as this deal for Elanga. He is hardly World Class, albeit he is a couple of years younger. Last season in the Bundesliga he had 8 goals, 3 Assists in 32 matches, he will be signing from a league it's notoriously difficult for forwards to adapt from (This view may be clouded by Timo Werner). Elanga on the other had 6 goals and 11 Assists in 38 games, and will already be up to speed with the pace and physicality of the Premier League. I'm not saying Elanga is World Class or anything, but to say £55m gets you World Class talent from the continent is wrong. Liverpool paid £120m for a World Class talent for instance. STM
Our strategy all along will have been to low ball, to make our higher bid look better. Going in at 55m would have been a real error. If this happens, I bet Trafford happens quickly off the back of it, confirming my theory that all of these transfers and the fees attached are inter linked because of budget constraints. If we can get those two, that's a decent starting point to attack the rest of the window.
bobbydazzla
Stats, stats, stats and more stats. Fucksake man Is there a stat for seeing whether someone’s an absolute helmet who destroys the dressing room harmony ? Or a stat that shows if someone’s wants to fight every day to improve under an amazing coach like Eddie ? Or a stat that shows if someone’s more interested in sitting on their arse playing PS5 games rather than putting in the extra graft at the gym ? Fucking stats man, they tell a fraction of the story. Stop wanking yourselves daft over stats Edited July 3, 2025 by bobbydazzla
Super Duper Branko Strupar
55m for Elanga is way too much for a player like him. We'd better pay whatever it takes or will be livid.
