Plan Bs are for the weak.

Seriously though, Pedro would have been amazing as he’d have provided something we don’t have. A level of technical ability in an area we don’t have it in at #10 and would have been good at helping us unlock teams.

I wasn’t totally sure on Elanga early in 24/25 but he absolutely won me over last season, he’s a bigger badder version of Murphy in a way that can and will unlock low blocks and such just in a different manner to the way Pedro possibly could have helped us do. Sheer pace and first time passing/crossing accuracy will be disrupt stubborn teams no end, as I said I feel it’s really doubling down on plan A which is everything for us. PL proven beyond doubt, young, great attitude and an assist machine that fits into our set up without even trying for under £60m. He ticks all the boxes and he’s Isaks mate, too.

I think once you accept that we’re doubling down on being an athletic side then it’s hard to see a better option.

We weren’t going for Pedro because of his great vision and creativity, it was because for his position he’s strong, can run all day, and can do the physical side if things.

The Pedro pursuit was very interesting for sure, since he is no use at RW at all I assume we were planning to sign both positions. Wonder if we still will look for a more central attacker.

Remember when Ornstein only ever tweeted when deals where done?

RyDog’s stellar reporting this summer has him shook, so he’s having to deviate from his standard MO.

Feel this is the big overpay we need to kick things off. I don't mind overpaying (especially Forest) it can help us later down the line as clubs start to adjust their prices as they know we've spent a good chunk. First one was always going to be tough, shouldn't have been this tough though.

errr, not sure that's how it works when a club overpays for players

(and I'm not saying £55m is overpaying for Elanga - honestly don't give a shit as long as Howe and his team are happy with the squad by 1st September)

£55m seems a bit silly but I'm not a fan of the Adeyemi/Bakayoko links, Akliouche seems fan-driven + there generally doesn't seem to be much out there in such a position.

And when you see the Joao Pedro, Gittens and Kudus numbers, it again doesn't feel too bad.

Elanga is merely ok, I like that he's two-footed but would prefer a different type of player to unlock those deep defences.

So grim man, the age of engagement is poison

Thing is with Romano there's never any actual engagement in anything. Go to any of his tweets and it's just people posting asking about other transfers
