I thought of him as a pace merchant only but the stats the others have posted show he’s more than that. If Howe wants him I’m all in. £55m plus is expensive but we know what we’re getting versus a player with no PL experience. Will we be a stronger team with him in it, definitely with all respects to Murphy and I guess that’s the main thing.

He's rapid - as in one of the fastest in the PL, he's two footed - he himself doesn't know which is his best, he's shown progression / willingness to improve, he comes across as a good lad in his interviews, wants to come to the club - already seems to have bonded with some of the players and he seems perfectly suited to Eddies system.

Of course, but that’s not the same thing. He could green light a transfer over the phone but clearly we weren’t anywhere near that stage while he was away.

Although, if you’re paying over 50m for someone, there’s a strong argument to say a six-figure weekly salary would match that valuation.

Yeah, it’s a big raise if the public numbers are right but £50m+ player is almost certainly not going to be on less than that.
