£55m seems a bit silly but I'm not a fan of the Adeyemi/Bakayoko links, Akliouche seems fan-driven + there generally doesn't seem to be much out there in such a position.

And when you see the Joao Pedro, Gittens and Kudus numbers, it again doesn't feel too bad.

Elanga is merely ok, I like that he's two-footed but would prefer a different type of player to unlock those deep defences.

Howe obviously sees how he fits his system and what he can bring to the team. He’ll also make him better too. I can see how he’ll be lethal away from home but I'm intrigued to see how he’ll improve our play at home too.

It’s a chunk of money but in the current market and buying from another premier league club for a premier league proven player I don’t think it’s silly money.

Counts as homegrown as well doesn’t he?

Aye, whilst obviously not a bad thing at all, it’s fairly irrelevant at the moment as we’ve got a large crop of home grown already, just the club trained we’re missing.

*although I suppose you could have Wilson, Lascelles, Pope, Longstaff, Willock all feasibly leaving in the next season or two, so probably wouldn’t want to replace ALL of them with foreigners.

Had a look at his goals and assist video from this season and a couple of things I noticed were:

1. The Forest TV commentators are very annoying and not as good as ours.

2. Two separate times after scoring he pointed to the Adidas symbol on his shirt. Chelsea have Nike kits so I don't think they'll be able to hijack this one.

Pros

He's PL proven

He's two footed

He's a good decision maker

He's lethal on the break

He'll improve our Plan A

Cons

It's a fair chunk out the budget

He's not the best with the ball at his feet

It's an improvement on Plan A as opposed to presenting a Plan B

Ive no problem with us taking a large chunk out of our budget as long as we're not having to sell players to prevent a PSR breach next year. Sooner or later we were always going to have to spend seriously big wedge on a few players in one window if we want a squad capable of competing in Europe and domestically. Hopefully this is that window.

If - this happens - it smells like Gordon - I was not convinced and at 40 m it was so overpriced - IMHO. I think Elanga will be a similar revelation - (fingers crossed).

No need for that many hyphens.

It's a lot of money but I'm assuming he'll slot right in at that £100-120k per week range. The relatively low wages make the total outlay a little more tolerable.

The combo of Eddie + the athleticism he showed in that training video is enough to make this exciting.

Aye, I am sure he will prove to be a great signing.

Trafford, RCB, a player to help unlock the “low blocks”. Be delighted with that.

Striker? Can’t flog Isak to breaking point again for another season.

It’s already been said that we can’t afford either the fees or the wages for those who are already ‘world class’. We need to buy those with the potential & if Howe sees the same in Elanga that he did with Isak, Tonali & Bruno then that’s good enough for me. You could arguably throw Livramento, Hall & Gordon into that as well if they can continue to progress.

Might not even be that high, given his current salary.

Although, if you’re paying over 50m for someone, there’s a strong argument to say a six-figure weekly salary would match that valuation.
