I genuinely believe as it stands at the moment we’ll burn out next season.

Ā

That's why I'm confident we'll be pretty active next few weeks. Think Howe will aim for two players for every position.

I think they would have. Ā They beat PSG at home in the KOs last season.Ā

So did we…

Ā

Tbh, I guess the point was more that the two formats are, IMO, virtually incomparable. They had extra games, but each one wasn’t life or death against an elite opponent.

Ā

If we’d had games against Young Boys, Brugge and Celtic, we may have been able to rotate what limited resources we had a little better.

Aside from having a decade with Clough as manager, have they actually done anything of real note?

They never really seemed to have been a big club before then (2 FA Cup wins aside) and haven’t won anything since.

Ā

I mean I would much rather have them in the league than Bournemouth or Brighton, but they aren’t as big as people perceive them.

Leeds are similar. A non-entity for most of their existence outside of the Revie era.

Can't believe Newcastle fans can spout shite like this  the nerve

The irony of us judging other clubs by what they have won. Leeds won the league in the 90s and have been Champions League semi finalists. Good team mid 90s too with Yeboah etc. obviously been very difficult for them in past 20 years but we had hard times with Ashley.

Fucking hell, all I’m saying is that I think people perceive them as bigger than they are, or historically more successful than they are. I’m not saying they aren’t a big club, just that I’ve always thought of them as a club who have always been historically big, when in matter of fact in terms of Football history, their most successful period was more recent and peaked over a 3 year span.

The big club debate is absolutely AIDS inducing.Ā

Ā

Nobody ever comes at the argument from the same angle.

Ā

Most PL/Championship clubs are massive by most standards. Arguing who's got a few more trophies through history, who's got a bigger stadium, always seems a bit odd.

Ā

There's always an argument. We weren't big because we hadn't won anything, now we aren't big because we've only one the league cup and if we won the PL we wouldn't be big because we've only won 1 PL.... and on and on.

Ā

Just have respect for other clubs, their history and what they are trying to be.... apart from Sunderland of course who are tinpot, small time cunts.

If you want to really judge a club, judge it not on their silverware or their stadium capacity but on the passion of their fans for the club they love. In both of these Leeds and Forest can be considered massive clubs.... and there is a difference between them and a Brighton for example.

I’m not saying they aren’t a big club, I’m saying that the perception of them is that they are historically a big club, when their most successful spell consisted over a 3 year period and is much more recent than the perception is.

I’ve even said that I would still prefer them in the league over other clubs whom I do view as ā€˜non-entities’.

I even think their ground improvements they have gained permission for recently aren’t keeping up with their potential.

I wasn't really aiming it at you. It was just general.

Ā

Just as an example, I dont consider Man City bigger than either of them clubs but that's just my perception, which I'm sure is completely irrelevant to any modern fan.

Scott Wilson is about as reliable as reliable as a chocolate teapot, but:

Ā

"Forest are understood to be happy with Newcastle’s offer of an up-front payment, and sources claim discussions are now taking place over a handful of add-ons that will complete the deal.

Ā

Those talks should not take too long to resolve, with Newcastle’s recruitment team keen to have Elanga in place before the start of pre-season training.

Ā

The Sweden international is understood to be excited at the prospect of moving to St James’ Park, with talks over personal terms not expected to present any problems."

Not my preferred type of player but I’m still not gonna complain and I’m happy to see another Swede get in as well. I think he will do well. Exciting times when thinking in terms of transitions and what we can do in some games. Less so when it comes to controlling the games and ball retention. Hopefully with Botman and a GK we can compensate a fair bit in this area.Ā
Ā

Personally I’m really really hoping for a bit of guile and creativity to come in to play between Isak and midfield, and not necessarily a pure #10 weak dwarf. Think that would make a nice difference for our variety as well as opening things up for our wide players where we lack a bit technically at times. JP would have been perfect in many ways.Ā

Bloom’s spreadsheet nonces and Foley’s equivalent at Bournemouth will never be big clubs. Their fans have the passion levels of a building society AGM.

Can you not say that about most clubs though....apart from the likes of man u and Liverpool who've had continued success over different eras

You say that but over 90% of liverpool success was after they beat us in 1974

That’s pretty reliable to be fair. A ā€˜melt’ every time.Ā
