We have a good player in that position already in Murph, and great to finally see some depth emerging for all the extra fixtures, the bench, and in readiness for injuries. I doubt anyone two years ago would have praised Murph for his shooting, but he's scored several screamers since then. You've got to give the lads time. We're signing Elanga both as a prospect and an already high achiever.

If you’ve ever watched him in the last 2 seasons you’d think the same. Crazy speed, peach of a delivery, great with both feet, a menace in transitions and crazy work-rate. People were frothing at the thought of getting Diaby in for similar money; Elanga’s much better. Don’t understand the negativity.

I haven't actually seen much negativity about his ability Im excited personally think he's going to be good, just concerned the price is high and we leave ourselves short elsewhere.

We’re potentially buying the best player from a team that challenged us for the Champions’ League. We’re “overpaying”by maybe 10m max.
 

To put it in perspective a player in Gittens who’s nowhere near as good will be going for a similar amount. (There’s so much value from abroad! ).

Speaking to some people and it's the fact that he only cost them £15m, whilst we'll be paying 3 times as much

 

I find that thinking a bit odd, of course it would be nice to sign quality players before they are quality but those type of signings are risky and have a lower success rate

 

Best way to look at it is compare to the market and also more importantly does he improve us overall, which I think he does

Yep - you pay £15m for unproven players because it’s all risk; you pay £55m for proven players because they’re closer to a sure thing

Calm yourself down. Howe was wanting us to sign players in early June and us bidding for Trafford and Pedro (at least) in June means the PSR window theory doesn’t add up.
 

He repeatedly said what he wanted and wasn’t getting it. It shouldn’t be hard to believe that he didn’t want a repeat of the Guehi situation (but with multiple players) so has put his foot down.

Yep - usual Hope shite.  We’ve tabled a new £55m bid - that’s the update.  It doesn’t make agreement any closer - in fact, agreement is a ‘yes/no’ situation in any case.  They’ll either agree to it or they won’t - ‘close to an agreement’ suggests that it isn’t enough.

If that's the case, then we definitely need to look elsewhere if this bid is knocked back. Forest fucked us up royally by insisting we had to sign their hardly used keeper for a staggering £20 million. I'm already of the opinion we're overpaying, and we need to tell them to go fuck themselves if they turn this bid down. Interesting 24 hours to see if they do actually accept. I'd not, we need to walk away, as we did with Palace last summer, when they tried to take the piss also.

Bruno was unproven in this league etc, and we've obviously been tracking him forever.

It’s not our money. Pay what they feel is right for a player they’ve done plenty of research about. 
 

just get it done and get some extra bodies in for the season ahead otherwise it’s gonna be a struggle.

It’s getting towards that for me, no idea if it’ll be enough, maybe it is, I just hate football hacks with their ‘close to agreement exclusive’ shite - total bollocks.

 It is the same player, only with two years additional development and now having proven themselves as a quality PL player.  If Elanga hadn’t succeeded at Forest, he might not even be a £15m player today.  Players values change - it doesn’t matter what a club paid years ago for them.

I mean it's academic but he could have got the same experience here given the other option was Miggy. 

 

The fee they paid is relevant purely because we cant afford for every player to be 40m and up. 

 

Anyways it's by the buy, I'm sure he will do the business and prove to be worth it.

Bruno was signed by the same people looking at Elanga. 
 

You could extend the same argument to him as well. Why didn’t we buy Bruno from Athletico Paranaense for 17m?

Agreed - and it depends on what our risk appetite is in signing players.  Which is where I suspect Howe clashes with the likes of Mitchell - I get the impression that Howe is very risk-averse; and so he should be - as manager, he carries the can if we buy three £15m flops instead of one £45m success.
