Newcastle United 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion - 19/10/25

Better display than against Everton but we’re struggling to take chances. Isak is out of form, can’t get involved and Barnes and Willock don’t get regular starts.

Brighton were ordinary at best. We could have played another 90 minutes and not scored.

Agree with the last point, and it was the same against Everton. That’s why I don’t agree with people saying it was such a great performance.

We were great for 35 minutes.

Wilson being unavailable is a killer in games like this where you’d fancy him sticking one away

Aye, it wasn’t even Brightons strongest 11 either.

Other than a couple of shots from bad angles and Gordons half as shot under pressure i dont remember any chances(other than Isaks one ofc.)

The shot from Isak first half was a goal all day if Murphy didn't get in the way.

Gordon had a one on one he hit straight the keeper second half.

There was the obvious chances (the two one-on-ones and the Gordon header being the worst of them) but there were others too; players got in behind from the left hand side but we just couldn't find the killer pass or shot. There was one, from my pov in the East/Leazes corner, where it looked like all Joelinton had to do was touch in and it was a goal, but he got nothing on it. Can distinctly recall screeching "HOW HAVEN'T WE SCORED" at one point in the second half so will rely on that memory to conclude that we should have scored.

only managed to see 3 min highlights but seems like our lads dominated and could've won comfortably

first home defeat in something like 10 months and first home game in like 23 without scoring? not fucking bad for all the doom and gloom here

also Brighton can be a very good and tricky side, I was a little surprised how confident most seemed in the prematch thread

football is so ruthless though, the lads outplay their opponent in the last two games and more often than not come away with 6 points

this time Gordon and Isak fluff their lines and it's mostly on Howe, which is a shame as I really don't think we'd get anyone else who's a better fit for us atm and would give more to the club

Yeah I think there’s been a massive overreaction to a degree after yesterday.

you think? This place turns feral when we face adversity. Actually saw someone starting to turn on Howe. It was difficult to distinguish between rational criticism and chronically miserable cunts when we were unambitious and shit as there wasn't much positive to say about our situation anyway, but some peoples true nature has really come through after the takeover (on top of all the shitty new members). Had 0 on my ignore list pre-takover, now I'm worrying that the next person I ignore will hit a max cap or something

While we dominated, we didn't test their GK that much in all honesty such was our poor finishing.

We've only scored 8 goals in 8 matches as well, so it's not like it was just a one off. Our end product is definitely not top tier.

Watched it back and there was loads of good in there for the first hour, so frustrating we couldn't make one of the many opportunities count. I didn't realise the Tonali through ball to Isak was actually onside - he should've done a lot better there.

The Willock sub definitely weakened us, we should've carried on with the original 3 for at least another 10 mins, imo. The legs looked good and there was a strong balance.

I couldn’t believe how knackered he looked after 5 minutes. No energy. He looked like he was running through treacle any time he tried to carry the ball.

He's been here long enough for us to know that Willock usually takes quite a long time to get his match sharpness up to a decent level. Always looks like he takes an extra second to react to situations and running in syrup for a while after coming back from injury.
