Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle United (27/10/24)

We look the absolute epitome of a midtable team, hard to believe how much we've regressed in almost every aspect of our play.

Said it many times in the summer but if you stand still in this league you go backwards quickly, and that's what's happening.

Utter shit and deserved nothing.

Howe really poor when it comes to changing something tactically or making subs. Always reactive as well and never pro-active.

How did Howe watch that first 10 minutes and change nothing, despite seeing Chelsea threatening and a disallowed goal.

The only positives today is Lewis Hall and, grasping at straws,  how relieved/happy Chelsea were to see the game out. Not sure why - it wasn't a great achievement by them to do so but feels good that they feel it is.

Incredibly ineffective and disjointed. There's mitigating circumstances for us not having a great season but there's none for having us play like strangers. I am losing faith a bit; didn't believe we'd score at any point in that second half.

What a shit day.

Might be against the grain but I don't think that was too bad a performance. Again we made chances and just weren't particularly clinical with them.

And bear in mind it was away to a team who I think will be challenging the top 4 this season.

Areas to improve for sure but we desperately need to strengthen in January.

No way are Chelsea a top 4 side

Another game where if we could finish it might have been different. Unbelievably frustrating.

Yup. Actually watching the games and we're improving overall, albeit today was a backwards step. Inability to finish and some stupid individual errors have cost us at least 4 points in the last 2 games.

One of the most worrying performances I’ve seen from us under EH. We’re going to lose games throughout the season but losing them like that - players not showing for each other, no intensity, no composure, no creativity, constantly giving the ball away, no communication, that pathetic high defensive line and nothing remotely new - is starting to look like there are bigger problems than just form

No it's not, he's not employed to appoint coaches around Eddie. If he is, i don't think that system will work.

And also noted, the collective disregard of Eddie's previous work is apparent. We have to trust him, aye we're going through a rough patch but i'm certain we'll come out of it.

And today's game, i don't think we were too bad, defensively it needs addressing, but overall i thought we played OK, against a £2 billion pound cheat code team.
