Presume be Tuesday/ Wednesday night Probably be next week now, but common sense has us on the Tuesday and the other game on the Wednesday, for the first leg anyway. Common sense not always guaranteed to be used though…

AJ9 Posted Friday at 00:24 Share Posted Friday at 00:24 Beat these but I cannot see us beating the scousers in a final. They’re our kryptonite and have too many big moment players.

But we really need to keep the scores down in the 1st and still be in touching distance for the home tie. Those Bruno and Schar suspensions worries me now. You have to love how red cards in the PL carry into the League Cup (see Pope, N.) but yellows in the League Cup alone compound.
nufcjb Posted Friday at 00:42 Share Posted Friday at 00:42 After all these years, I still fucking hate Lee Dixon for getting Ginola sent off and we went on to lose 0-2 in the Coca-Cola.Cup quarters in the 95/96 season. Cried that night seeing the sending off and genuinely thought we could have won the whole thing that season. It's payback time now.

We owe Liverpool one (for me) as our second final that I attended was the 1974 FA Cup Final defeat (my first was the 1969 Fairs cup Win) so - belatedly - we owe them one !!! I think I heard he was in tears himself in frustration (I was in the away end with my dad and I have never seen footage of the game). The SF draw wouldn’t necessarily have been the same as the numbers would have changed, but we’d have beaten Leeds, Villa or Birmingham C comfortably I reckon. mighty__mag Posted Friday at 02:29 Share Posted Friday at 02:29 Just never see the point in two legs, wish it was just the same throughout.
Stottie Posted Friday at 03:14 Share Posted Friday at 03:14 Best possible draw for me. I think we can take Arsenal and Spurs with their wild inconsistency and the Ange second season thing have a decent shout at disrupting Liverpool. We are definitely in Arsenal's heads and any claim from them that they are looking forward to this, for anything other than revenge, is bravado. Beating Liverpool ourselves would be delish, and they may not be at full strength in the semi depending on league games before and after, but losing to them with a commentator and likely two pundits cheering them on would be unbearable. Some arse claiming hoofing it in the general direction of Salah or lofting a corner at VVD is genius tactics can fuck right off.
Ben Posted Friday at 05:17 Share Posted Friday at 05:17 Aresnals January fixtures are mad, would new signings be allowed to play in this ? Or will it be if Arsenal sign players they can but if we do they can't
Whitley mag Posted Friday at 05:20 Share Posted Friday at 05:20 Be feisty this over 2 legs we’ll need to keep our discipline. But one to enjoy whatever happens, these are the type of games we’ve wanted to be involved in for years and where certainly going in with every chance. Holloway Posted Friday at 05:50 Share Posted Friday at 05:50 Arsenal don't like coming to ours, loads of their fans say it. Not sure about parking the bus at the Emirates mind, that's asking for trouble
Yorkie Posted Friday at 05:59 Share Posted Friday at 05:59 Proper PFM stuff this but I genuinely think we might want it more than them, and that'll increase our chances. We'll have to be at our nastiest in order to actually manifest that advantage though.
Sibierski Posted Friday at 06:36 Share Posted Friday at 06:36 Got to take advantage of that 2nd leg at home. Arsenal playing Man City and us playing Fulham are different levels of output required IMO. Keep it within one goal we have a good chance, come back level it’s a superb chance. ramirez Posted Friday at 07:28 Share Posted Friday at 07:28 Our last Wembley win was against Liverpool, mercantile cup 88/89? Penalties after 0-0 draw in 45 min game, then lost 4-0 to lower league tranmere, the forgotten Wembley trip and only one over not done in my time on the planet (not counting the spurs league game). Mattoon Posted Friday at 07:46 Share Posted Friday at 07:46 This all boils down to the first leg realistically, we need to inflict the dark arts on them, keep it at 0-0 harry and frustrate them as much as possible. We can beat anyone at SJP so we've just got to make sure we return home with a realistic challenge. Really don't fancy playing Liverpool in a final but anything can happen on the day so long as we don't choke again.
Whitley mag Posted Friday at 08:44 Share Posted Friday at 08:44 (edited) Would love to play Liverpool in the final and see our day with them, if where lucky enough to get the opportunity just hope the fans are up for it, fucking pathetic last time at Wembley and already defeatist talk by some. Big if, but if we get there fans need to start showing some fucking balls and be bang up for it, none of this nervous, expect to get beat so didn’t sing fucking spineless shit. Cronky Posted Friday at 08:44 Share Posted Friday at 08:44 I think that's the best draw. It's better to lose Schar and Bruno for the away leg (I think) and we know we have the beating of Arsenal at home. I don't think they like playing us.

black_n_white Posted Friday at 08:45 Share Posted Friday at 08:45 Will be very tough, the fact Bruno and Schar will miss the away game worry’s me. I’m not sure we would be able to beat Arsenal by two clear goals at home so you’d imagine we’d need a draw first? We thinking Arsenal will go full team in the first leg hoping to get a comfortable lead? Who comes in to replace Bruno and Schar? Presumably it’ll be Longstaff and Kelly at this point? Longstaff will provide better defensive cover and used to playing on the right. Botman may be OK for the second leg but surely not the first?
