Get the goal from midfield and then bring Hatem on to hold the ball up and see out the win.

Hatem on a free is the only logical January transfer.

 Wish I was joking.

Full throttle, in their faces, relentless for 90 mins, make It absolute hell. Have their fans spitting the most angst ridden vitriol and then have them traipsing home after 30 minutes. They don’t want  a quick game. Well let’s facking give it to them!

The key is to remind their players they are out of form and lacking confidence. What we absolutely can't do is allow them to remember how to play football.

When you aren't in form, a negative mindset from everyone can set in if you set about them quickly.

Midfield need to go hard and fast.

I'll go back to my previous comments about his mentality, I really don't think it's at the level they need. It's one of the hardest jobs in football. Maybe the hardest since following Fergie and he just doesn't seem up to it. Ten Hag at least bit back, this is more whimper.

It’s a winnable game but I’d still have Man Utd favourites. They’re at home, after a reaction and the away form has been pretty patchy this season.

If they have three at the back Casemiro won’t be as exposed for pace, and he hasn’t played 3 games in 8 days.

This is the sort of test that was flunked last season (this exact fixture as one example) and aced the year before. It will be a big test of character.

Always feels like we are less effective against a back 3. But, having said that, that 3 at the back of Man Utds contains one of the the slowest CBs in the league (Maguire), a 19yr old kid and a really out of form Tiny Martinez.

Will be a good test of how far we've actually come in the last couple of weeks. Don't want another false dawn this season.

Was going to comment the same.

Statements like those just won’t wash with that fanbase. Its a weak lowering expectations type of spin that they won’t want to hear out of him. He’s a great coach I’m sure, but early days suggest that this job might have been a bit of an mis match for him.

I agree. Over recent years we've had reason to be confident going there but then you remember that almost every time we go to Old Trafford, we play completely fucking shite.

Thought we were very good in 22/23 when IIRC we hit the bar a couple of times, but yeah generally agree.

Agree, it feels we don't pay as well vs a back 3, though I don't know if the stats actually back that up or if it's more the last couple of games vs Palace and an underwhelming performance vs Southampton that makes me think that.

We have to assume the ref will give these absolutely everything so we'll have to be disciplined. Nice early goal, Amorim with his head in his hands on the sidelines offering absolutely no encouragement to his team, jobs a good 'un.

There’ll be 26 days between the Liverpool game and this one.

General consensus before Liverpool was that it was a waste of time turning up as we were going to be smashed and embarrassed.

Now we’re going to Old Trafford and the consensus is as long as we play half decent we’ll win with ease.

Funny how the mood changes.
