Another 9 game winning streak, starting on Sunday, wouldn’t go amiss.

It is weird how we wildly lurch from looking decent for a number of games to looking absolutely bobbins. This is probably the longest spell we've looked poor for too.

I'd be going full strength for this. We've a very decent shout of going far in this competition, especially given Liverpool are out.

Beat these and I'd literally take anybody at home. In fact I'd probably prefer Man Utd or Man City. Win this and we are a game away from Wembley again.

100% Full strength. Them two away ties at the Amex under Pardew were grim.

Knowing that they won't risk any players now with the final on the horizon. Don't expect Joelinton or Botman back for this, and probably not Isak by the sounds of things.

With that in mind and players holding back even subconsciously + Brighton's recent good form. Could be a tough evening.

If they are fit they’ll need games. Remember Bruno returning for the final after missing 3 games.

Not sure I agree here. We have just been wildly inconsistent. Sometimes from one half to the next. Never mind game to game.

Since our mad winning run ended. Where we had a few games that were up and down. But I’d say more ‘game management’ than capitulations. We’ve had:

Bournemouth - shite. But they were brilliant.
Southampton - N/A. They don’t count  we won easily, at least.

Fulham - comfortable first half. Then fell apart a bit. But still should have got at least a point.
Arsenal - we were superb.
Birmingham - much changed, banana skin game. Did well in thecircumstances, I thought.
City - dreadful. One of the worst of the season.
Forest - first half was as good. As the second half was shit.
Liverpool - tame. But nowhere near City levels. Been far worse there over the years.

Start of the season through to about the Arsenal 1-0. Were littered with crap performances and games we were lucky to get anything from.

Had a quick look and it was 13 games. We were rubbish in a good 7-8 of those, I’d say.

City and Liverpool away in this last 8 game stretch and all. Never going to be easy.

It's not a hugely important point, but while it's not been a hard and fast pattern it feels like we've had blocks of form.

Southampton to Fulham we looked incredibly disjointed, with many of our better players out of form. Thankfully we were incredibly clinical in front of goal and ended up with a points return we didn't particularly deserve.

After the break, we looked much more like ourselves v City. The improvement continued against Everton, Brighton and Chelsea, but profligacy in front of goal cost us. Gordon and Isak being unusually wasteful. Wins v Forest and Arsenal felt like we'd finally turned the corner.

Then came the horror show v West Ham. We looked lethargic and unorganised. A decent performance v Liverpool was bookmarked by similarly awful showings v Palace and Brentford.

We them flick the switch and produce five excellent performances.

The warning signs were there again v Wolves and we've been ropey every since. We start slowly, look lethargic and error prone. We've been pretty poor since, aside from a passable first half v Fulham and a ten minute blitz v Forest.

Might just be me, but it certainty feels like we're incredibly streaky. Granted, either way you look at it we're frustratingly inconsistent.

Certainly a bit streaky and we have been almost more inconsistent with performances this season compared to last, even. No argument there.

I just don’t think we have been that bad of late. Plus we have had certain key players missing in a lot of those games. Namely Big Joe and Botman. Then no Isak last night was obviously a huge miss. Barnes to a lesser degree has meant nothing off the bench in forward areas.

I’ve not been very good at it. But I am trying to remind myself that we have an unbalanced squad. With a lot of players now ageing, injury prone or perhaps a bit above their level. And that we’ve gone a bit stale and run out of ideas in some ways.

I also need to stop getting so high and low on our players week to week. Most likeable and ‘successful’ bunch we’ve had in my time supporting the club. I feel the same about the manager, too. Despite massively doubting him

after Brentford.

2-3 first team additions would do wonders for this squad and hopefully push us up another rung.

I actually think the FA cup could be our best chance of winning something. Apart from city there is no real outstanding team left. If we play them, then we would have to change our recent league tactics and effort we showed against them and Liverpool the last couple of weeks though.I thought we were past that with the two Arsenal performances, but obviously not.

Beat Brighton and I would actually be quite happy to draw them at home in the QF. We would be guaranteed I believe a in your face performance at SJP instead of the tummy tickle in our last two away games.

City are going through an upheaval process so are certainly beatable as we've seen all season. Yes another team drawing them and knocking them out will be champion also. We need Joelington, Botman and Isak back (hopefully for Saturday), as I'm far from convinced we will even beat Brighton, with the team that played last night.

I don’t think it’s that weird I think when you win games due to aggression and intensity it’s unsustainable over long periods.

I think the last line there hits the nail on the head, full squad, fully fit and we look incredibly good since Tonali found his place in the team but you take one piece of the puzzle away and it's a discombobulated mess.

A PSR nightmare and an 18 month dry spell of first team additions will do that to a team though, a paper thin functional squad and complacency are symptoms of our current financial limits.

If we can get a full team out for this then I would, we could do without rushing back our injured players but we have a very real chance of silverware here and will kick ourselves if we go out without a wimper now. Plus, as previously stated, although we need all our players fit for the final, we also need them match fit and sharp.

Still a lot of good teams left and Brighton are in great form, I really hope we win this one though and no need to go anything other than full strength.

Great form is debatable. Last away game but one they lost 7-0.

I think we performed much better overall last season than this season. Last season apart from the middle chunk of the season where we had all the injuries, we performed admirably in times of injury and extremely explosive when we had the full team out. Look how many goals across the board, how many big wins, 20 different goal scorers etc.

this season has been extremely patchy to say the least. As unlucky as we were last season, that’s how lucky we’ve been this season that everyone else is also shite.

I may be totally wrong as Howe is a man with a 1000 faces in press conferences, but I still got the feeling Dubravka will start Sunday. The question asked was if Pope was his number 1 and will keep his place and he skirted around the question as he cleverly does. He also mentioned that Pope looked rusty in parts on Wednesday and he's never done that when he's returned previously
