It is annoying the timing of this game. Reminds me of when we played Villa in preseason shortly before the league opener and we played completely different tactics. 

 

There is no real right or wrong answer, if we went full strength and played amazing and caught them by surprise with some interesting new approach to get the better of them, yes we might get the points in the league but then we give them time to analyse and fix any weaknesses for the final. 

 

The only real positive going into this is if some of our players can get the better of their opposite numbers and give themselves confidence going into the final. Thinking Gordon v Trent again, Isak v Van Dijk, Hall v Salah etc.

Great that we managed to win yesterday. As this now becomes a free swing in a game where we’re expected to get fuck all. We never get anything at Anfield, the same as City. 
 

Speaking of City. Liverpool just schooled them on their own patch. Yet only a week ago, we got battered there 4-0. 
 

I know results and performances don’t really have that much relevance week to week. But the way we’ve been playing of late. I think we might be in for another hiding here.

Rather we approach star game sitting off, 5-3-2 stuff, it be turgid and we make it difficult for them to win 1-0, whilst we we threaten little.

 

Then come final, we approach it differently and take it to them, try and catch them sleeping in the early stages before going back defensive.
