C - not sure how a team consisting entirely of Nick Popes would do though. Bit of a recency bias to overcome but he's still a bit better than a D surely?

He was a solid B for his first season and a half here.  But he hasn't looked the same since the shoulder injury.  Without checking, I feel like he's made more mistakes that have led to goals in his 20 games or so of this season, than he did for all of his games prior.

I think he's a C.  Sadly seems like he is going the wrong way.  But still time to turn his season round and hopefully regain something like his old form.

Low C for me, prior to that red against Liverpool 2 years he was a B+. Injuries have clearly affected him and his obvious poor footwork now looks as bad as ever.

We absolutely need a new keeper this summer

Think I agree that he's a C now, but was a B pre injury. It's easy to forget what an upgrade he was when he first came in and replaced Dubravka. Now he's solid, to the point where there's genuine and reasonable debate between the two of them.

Tough one this. Hard to accept his rather rapid decline. Part of me wants to think it's confidence and just poor form and will improve, part of me thinks there's no coming back.

Will go C for now and mark down as required as I think it's fairest.

Imo, West Ham - though imperfect - gave a hint that he'd end the season having made a mockery of the whole debate. Dubravka looked all day the better option a fortnight ago so if Pope plays a blinder from here on out it would truly be as :howe: as it gets.

Didn't have to make any saves though.

He swept up and commanded his area well. But before he was a great shot stopper. One of the best in the league. That part of his game is under question and without it.. he's neck and neck with Dubs.

D. You can’t be having him as a starter in Prem any more, but come in for odd game seems fine. Think people putting him as a C are overrating him based on past seasons. Hes broken as a goalkeeper and can’t even kick.

'C - Solid PL starter. A team consisting entirely of Cs should be comfortable in the PL but wouldn't challenge for the top places.'

Given we'll be wanting to challenge for the top places, C still fits. Pope could still very easily play for a side that were happy just being comfortable in mid-table.

Like if people have him as a C, would you be happy as him as a starter next season?

No but he would be fine for clubs just aiming for midtable.

I think I he struggles a bit mentally. The red before the last cup final was madness, and uncharacteristic, and it looked like he might be the England goalie just before the last world cup and he chucked two in at Wembley. And unless he’s never kicked a ball at all in training it can’t be that bad to be a technical issue.

Agree with this. He was imperious before the sending off then noticeably shaky ever since.  Likewise for England he was uncharacteristically poor when shot stopping. Now the injury is potentiallly impacting him physically or mentally or both.

Shame. I do love the lad.

His presence has made Dubs step his game up too.  Dubs tries to sweep and come for more crosses than he used too imo
