ElDiablo Posted Saturday at 17:25 Share Posted Saturday at 17:25 Fortunate to be level but conversely 3 points are up for grabs here. If we can tighten up a bit and stop getting done on transitions we can do these.
Ikon Posted Saturday at 17:25 Share Posted Saturday at 17:25 Villa better and sharper. Winning most duels and second balls. Hoping we can improve second half. We can do much better than we have. Way too passive and slow.

Well i agree that Villa was best overall, but it wasnt like it was total domination at all.
Big Geordie Posted Saturday at 17:25 Share Posted Saturday at 17:25 Been a good game - could say we are slightly fortunate to be level, at HT. Watkins giving Schar a really hard time. Will take a point now.
KetsbaiaIsBald Posted Saturday at 17:25 Share Posted Saturday at 17:25 Given we conceded so early we’ve done incredibly well to come in half time level. We’re not clicking up front. If we do and get some luck could win this with a smash and grab. Would take the draw all day right now mind.
geordie_b Posted Saturday at 17:26 Share Posted Saturday at 17:26 We MUST set the tone of the second half in the first 10 mins. Kill the game with some possession and s'housing if we dont their energy and subs will kill us
nemtizz Posted Saturday at 17:26 Share Posted Saturday at 17:26 Gordon tore these apart on the counter last season. Give them the ball second half.

This feels like a must win for Villa, so they're gonna get gung-ho and we can hopefully pick them off on the counter Agree, we are playing into their hands by pushing up too far. They are bypassing our press by just go long down the middle. I’d rather we defended deeper and challenged them to not lose the ball and allow our counter attacks. Yorkie Posted Saturday at 17:26 Share Posted Saturday at 17:26 Gordon for Murphy looks appealing from a defensive point of view but the lad is a goal (involvement) machine. Wouldn't be rushing into anything at this point, he just needs to get deeper. There was times in the first half against Palace where he was at full-back in the line and Trippier was wide of him. Looked solid as fuck and we could do with that now.

It's an option we don't have against teams that are any good and press high. We always have to look for the channels or kick long.
christ Posted Saturday at 17:27 Share Posted Saturday at 17:27 We’re nowhere near our best but we’re level and we’ve had a lot of the ball around their box. Let’s kick it up a gear.
joeyt Posted Saturday at 17:27 Share Posted Saturday at 17:27 Why is no one calling out Watkins for diving? Clearest yellow you've ever seen
KaKa Posted Saturday at 17:27 Share Posted Saturday at 17:27 They've failed to capitalise on some decent opportunities and have smacked the bar and post. Hoping for a smash and grab here. Feels like it could go that way.
Hank Marvin Posted Saturday at 17:27 Share Posted Saturday at 17:27 If this stays as is - Primed for a Gordon sub, playing off their shoulder, hitting on break, they'll be knackered. Would bring on at about '70.
Menace Posted Saturday at 17:27 Share Posted Saturday at 17:27 In typical Murphy form I expect him to thundercunt or assist Isak

alexf Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 Ref will defo be looking to send one of our booked players off if he gets chance. Every 50/50 he's given to them and ignored countless little shirt pulls and subtle fouls by them. Proper Homer ref. We have been poor out of possession. They keep playing the ball into our left channel and isolating Schar constantly. Lost track of the amount of times a straight ball got all the way through our midfield and a 1v1 for Schar. I guess that's the issue with playing the same lineup 7 games in a row, we are very predictable and all our defensive weaknesses were being exposed first half. Thankfully we're still a threat the other way.
andycap Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 Krafth for tripps Gordon for murphy If things don't look any better second half.
The Butcher Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 They should've been out of sight tbh. Been really lucky with their finishing.
Mazzy Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 Not actually looking forward to this second half. Villa feel like they can only get stronger, so many options on the bench and we've basically just got Gordon. Really going to have to up this tempo and start winning some battles around the pitch. Beren Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 Their wide players are dropping back, pulling out our full backs, then they are just doing long diagonals into the channels for Watkins against our slow CBs. Feels rectifiable
SUPERTOON Posted Saturday at 17:28 Share Posted Saturday at 17:28 Playing them on the counter with our speed would be the way I would go tbh.
