Maybe I just don’t understand how transfers work, but didn’t Forest bid £25m and get rejected? So why would we go in with the same offer knowing full well it’d get knocked back.

Being in the CL means we could offer more add ons to the 25m. For example an extra 5m if we reach knock outs of CL or an extra 5m if we're top 4 next season. Forest can't offer that.

Cos we think the player wants to sign for us?

So you bid and get the players head turned, then the selling club are more likely to accept 30/35m?

*obviously this is perfectly acceptable when we’re doing it, but should anyone try it with Isak and it is a DISGRACE

So annoying seeing Arsenal, Liverpool, city, spurs, Chelsea and even Man Utd having really good windows while we sign Elanga and Wissa. Who are decent but it’s a drop off from who those are getting

When journos state sources close to the deal. Is this basically code for I’ve been briefed by the agent to tell you?

Or I need clicks and I'm hedging my bets.

Wissa and Elanga are Eddie players though, they’re specific to the way he wants to play. We are years behind those you’ve mentioned, that’s what makes  finishing above them even more enjoyable.

Solid signing (major drawback is AFCON). Age is not an issue - sell him to Saudi next year or year after for a good fee is realistic. Can also play as Left forward. Has pace, movement and all round finishing ability.

Right wing needed strengthening. Wissa back up for Isak (I hope).

I don’t buy the negativity like. Elanga will be mint under Eddie Howe. Wissa, if it happens, is a really solid PL striker to replace a perpetually injured PL striker.

Two good signings.

Exactly and just seems the gap is getting bigger rather than is closing the gap. It’s a PSR problem

I get what your saying especially when  we may  not have this level of money to invest again in a while. I take it as are they better than Wilson and almiron which is a clear yes IF they were to replicate similar form to last year that's an extra 35 goal contribution we were doing without before.

I think if we want to close the gap we need to be buying more players from Europe. The ceiling is higher getting top players who want the PL, although the floor is also lower.

We can continue to be successful by being clever in the transfer market rather than just going for all the expensive shiny players. Until we've doped our income like Chelsea/City we won't be able to shop at the top end of the market.

Good signings but not transformational i.e take us to that next level

Not sure Arsenal have done any better than us (assuming Wissa signs).

This is probably transfer burnout and forgive me for being skeptical here but seeing how Brentford played hard ball with Man U for the fee they wanted for their main player I’m really struggling to see us having Wissa for around the £30m mark.

It doesn’t scream a transfer that’s going to conclude quickly given their recent influx in wads of cash.
