Another favourite of mine regarding the signing of both he and Elanga is "underwhelming"

We finished 5th last season and if this plays out right, we will have added two players that between them had 25 goals and 15 assists in the Premier League last year.

They both managed this at clubs that weren't as good as Newcastle, and so they will be surrounded by better players and playing for a better manager this time around.

It's quite an exciting prospect for me personally. For others not so much I guess.

They’re both great signings. Not as exciting as Ekitike maybe but I really was never expecting a player of that level to come in while we still have Isak.

Who are Brentford signing? Their forward line being ripped up.

Jamie Vardy, DCL and Callum Wilson are all available. Plenty to choose from there.

I think once the matches come around and everyone can then see the reality of it coming together on the pitch, then it will really hit home how good this could be.

Would be nice if they could just get the deal over the line first though!

If this comes off. Then we are doing what the big clubs in the league have been doing for years. Sometimes to ourselves.

We’ll be taking one of the best players from our Premier League rivals.

I don’t get some of the negativity, personally.

It's quite funny how much Fabrizio Romano has gone down in the rating amongst some of us on this forum....

No one doubts he has access to agents and gets breaking news at a Tier 1 level. However, him and Ornstein have really showed their true colours this window and what is really influencing them behind the scenes - cash for clicks in particularly Romano’s case and also favours to the agents dropping them the inside titbits.

Plus his soundbite patter is absolutely fucking grim and spreading like wildfire across similar transfer ITKs.

He's the highest level of backup striker you could land. We're talking a player who knows he will be backup to Isak but accepts that and is more than good enough to stake his own claim for the starting spot when he plays in cup games etc as Isak will absolutely need rotating in the league at times also.

Yeah, exactly.

Isak is absolute top tier, however, he is just not the most robust of players and also doesn't get through a full 90 performing at high energy.

We're already hearing about thigh strains and groin issues again as the season is fast approaching.

We need a very capable option at striker added to this squad. Wissa would be as good as we could get. Ready to go from the outset with no bedding in or adjustments to the league needed.

Proud to say I thought he was a prick from day one.

Yep, there isn't much difference in price between Wissa and someone of his profile on the continent anymore.

For an extra few million it makes sense to go for a proven PL hitman rather than risk signing a Fullkrug

In Ornsteins case it could possibly be pressure from The Athletic/NY Times to get more promotion/awareness

Someone said it on here the other day but it’s quite clear which clubs he’s in with and which he isn’t. Either on the payroll or who feed him information for positive tweets. Same with Jacobs. Even Ornstein has gone from just dropping transfer bombs to playing for interactions.

Jacobs is all in with Chelsea.

Of course he’s doing favors for agents and/or execs in exchange for inside information. That’s the only reason sports journalists get inside information in the first place. It’s fine to be unhappy about that but the entire “transfer newsbreaker” profession wouldn’t exist without insider quid pro quos, and clearly we want it to exist given that we all keep consuming their content nonstop.

I definitely do not want it to exist

Wissa is a class finisher, really good poacher. Has the knack of being right place right time, things just seem to fall to him in the box. Doesn't really contribute a huge amount outside that, doesn't get too involved in build up play. Give him chances though and he will bag.

Not what I've seen from him.
