DR Congo manager Sébastien Desabre agreed it was better for Yoane Wissa to focus on his club.

“He did everything possible” to make his summer transfer to St James' Park happen - he even waived a bonus owed to him by Brentford, before making a wage concession to make the overall cost of the transfer more affordable to his new club.

He also spoke directly with Brentford owner Matthew Benham to clear the air and leave on good terms in a two-hour long meeting.”

Fair play to him

I like this formation but it's also worth noting he's interchangeable with Barnes/Gordon on the left. Here's his previous positions played:

Good resource, but shitty visualisation. The CF looks half way between LW and RW but the numbers tell a different story

Howay the Wiss, season starts here

Had a look at his career history on that site. Primarily played LW in France with occasional centre forwarding and RWing.

At Brentford basically covered both for a couple of years, squad role, not huge minutes, starting less than half the time.

Mainly CF year before last with some wing appearances but usually starting now and more minutes.

Only last year he played solely as a CF.

Be a massive boost if he’s on the bench Saturday.

I haven't seen it but I thought I saw a Keith Downie video flash up on my feed that he might be in the squad tomorrow.

Eddie was non-committal about in his presser (obviously) but it felt like he was saying he was probably ready to go, albeit for probably only 20 mins max if he got on.

I did wonder about that a few days ago in this thread. Obviously he's not going to be ready to start, but a stint from the bench for 10-20 mins should be fine, and Burnley is the perfect opportunity to get him out there.

He said he played 30 mins in a practice game of Wednesday and came through OK. To me it felt like he was saying ‘as long as he goes ok in training today, he’s on the bench’.

Brentford never planned for him to be their primary 9. Toney then Thiago. But Thiago got a ACL in pre-season or first couple of games.

Brentford are ace at finding and developing attackers. Benrahma, Watkins, Toney, Mbuemo, Wissa, Damsgaard, Schade & Thiago w/acl has been a revalation this season.
