Just need to give it time for things to average out. Is that not just a Brentford thing? They would put it on a plate for him. Brentford strikers have always scored a shit tonne
The Prophet
18 minutes ago, Yorkie said: I do too. But it does look like an overpay, even if he does. I predict Wissa will bang them and £55m will feel like decent value. Even if he was averaging a goal a game, it would still be an overpay. We were desperate, the market conditions were very pro-Brentford and they obliged to take our pants down. I'm still convinced after a couple of seasons of solid goal returns we'll get a decent return from Saudi though. So he’s due a crazy purple patch. tbf that first chance, he was clearly onside. just a shit finish. it would have taken VAR 10 minutes but the decision would have been reversed. The overpay is a massive shame because it, along with the overpay for Elanga, impacts us in future windows. That’s the point I’m making. Staveley said we couldn’t afford one slip up in the transfer market. She was right.

Plenty of nice finishes in Dennis Wise highlights. xG is basically - when you took a shot, how likely was it that shot would be a goal? If you consistently exceeds your xG it suggests your shooting is better than average. In his case he's been at, or exceeded his xG for the last 4 years (though not a full time player or specialist striker for some of that period tbf). Aye it was a mess but surely they could’ve found someone with similar fundamentals for a shit tonne less than the £55m on a 29 year old with 18 months left? duo
That chance he had at the start goes in - different game. Has to at least be hitting the target.

The biggest concern does look mobility with him. He’s coming back from an injury so we need to take our time with him but he doesn’t have age on his side so we’re probably seeing the ghost of future right now

Wilson and Isak had Xg of roughly .7-.58 per game through their time here under Howe (when playing regularly and before the legs failed for Wilson). Wissa will get chances which is why I’m not majorly concerned.
Andy
I have mixed feelings on him. He was obviously poor yesterday, no doubting that, but he still got shots away and almost scored that looping header too. I'd take that every day of the week ahead of Woltemade not looking a threat at all in that position. I think it's clear that he's mainly just a poacher and probably won't offer much in general play, so when he's missing chances he'll look shite. The College Dropout
Haway man he’s only 29. Not played a crazy amount of football. Not had a lot of injuries. Could have another 4 years at the top.

TaylorJ_01
Still quite annoyed at his misses and general play last night. He does that weird thing the rubbish players at 7s do. They like spasm and leap into the ball when it's coming to them and it flies off in a random direction.
Shadow Puppets
Generally, I much prefer watching Nick play (if we play to his strengths), rather than Wissa. Wissa to me seems just a bit meh. No obvious stand out quality.
BermyToon
Probably need to play them together to get the best out of both.

His stand out quality should be his finishing but as we have no idea how to get the ball to him (or any forward) we haven't had the opportunity to see it yet. Hopefully we stick with him vs Wolves as we should have more opportunities than last night
