If we're bringing former NUFC attackers back then Ayoze is the shout. Would probably be pretty well suited tbh. Would probably be expensive though.

Mitrovic would be the worst possible fit for our style. Would take our chances on Wissa and Larson or another high potential player and pray that the midfield can come up with some goals. Need strikers that can press as much as anything.

Failing those options Watkins or Mateta alongside Wissa and look for young successor next season

Larsen scored 19 goals last season. That’s a bit more than potential

Gordon/Barnes--------Wissa/Osula--------Elanga/Murphy

Joelinton/Ramsey------Bruno G/Miley

Tonali/Bruno G

Hall/Targett-----Botman/Burn-----Thiaw/Schär-----Livramento/Trippier

Ramsdale/Pope

Backups: Lascelles, Krafth, Willock

If you sign Wissa, I think you'll be fine for top 6 again.

When Wissa signs, its going to be weird for a little while with their being no noise about potential incomings. It feels like all summer every day there has been a player or two the press have been hammering on about

I think with the likes of Pedro and Ekitike long gone (players of indisputable quality), I don't think our approach is necessarily as straightforward as 'one to replace Wilson' and 'one to replace Isak.' We might not necessarily be aiming to reflect a situation where one striker is the very obvious first choice, supported by an inferior understudy.

It's impossible to replace Isak's quality, but incredibly easy to replace Wilson's. The result is probably getting two quite evenly matched strikers who will compete against each other for top billing. That's why Jackson and Wissa kinda makes sense as a pair I suppose, though undermined by the AFCON thing.

Bottom line is, I think people need to stop expecting us to get 'an Isak replacement'. We're replacing the whole strikers' unit.

Think he'll do really well. Can see him getting more than the 19 he got for Brentford if he starts regularly.

Our team and set up is a dream for No.9's.

Can't think of anywhere where a good striker would have more fun.

We cannot have Wissa and Osulu/Gordon as our choice of the two forwards next season.

Absolutely ridiculous suggesting we would be ok for top 6 with that. We must sign another centre forward of sufficient quality to even contemplate letting Isak go.

Could we not just get an old stager in that isn’t a complete bust? Bit of nous, etc. Before Wilson broke down completely it was that part of his game that kept him level-pegging with Isak in terms of output.

I posted it earlier but for the three years with Isak, Callum Wilson was equal for xG (i.e. chances created by himself or the team). This is because we're a good team and Isak wasn't doing it all by himself. Wilson also played for England on merit, and was underrated until his body gave up. The "Isak got you champions league and you should be so grateful as to set him free" narrative from Liverpool leaning folks on Twitter is utter bollox.

I fully expect Wissa to do at least what a fit Wilson did, which is score goals. What we may miss is the magic that helped Isak score in big games vs. Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal etc.

I would expect many other strikers to score goals for us too and its a mystery why Wood was not able to. Maybe he lost some confidence being at a club at with better finishers than him. Or maybe he was just too different to the other two and this prevented us from playing to his strengths. For a big bloke, Wood was not that good in the air.

Wissa isn't joining to play as a backup ST. He will be your main ST.

He scored 19 PL goals last season compared to Isak's 23. Yes, he's an inferior player. But he will be a success if he scores 15+ PL goals.

Wissa and Elanga together should be looking to combine for 30 PL goals between them. That would pretty much match the 31 combined goals between Isak and Murphy.

You could maybe find a decent backup ST to upgrade Osula.

Wissa: 15+ goals

Gordon: 10+ goals

Elanga: 10+ goals

Barnes: 7+ goals

Murphy: 5+ goals

They should be the PL targets for the attackers. Bringing in a backup ST with 7+ PL goals in him would be ideal.
