We did it with Botman, with AC Milan's interest. He wanted Milan apparently

There was never any talk that there had to be an agreement with Botman and his camp before we could then table a bid.

I don't recall any talk of Botman wanting to wait for Milan, and not giving us the go ahead to bid, which we then did anyway to force his hand.

Both clubs wanted Botman, he was open to both, and Milan didn't have the money.

Looking at the reporting it’s so clear there’s an agenda and everyone hates us

Crude example but the way any good news gets belittled is like an activist coming on and saying free Palestine

the big 6 have a Israel like stranglehold of the media

India is the same in cricket

shows how much money talks

There is no agenda. The likes of Liverpool and Man U have huge online followings and there is an incentive for the likes of Jacobs and Romano to peddle what the fans of these clubs want to hear so they lap it up like clapping seals.

And both of those clubs can pay significantly higher wages than Newcastle so in nearly all circumstances we will genuinely be second favourites when competing for a signing.

His contract will no doubt include a release clause. We just need to make sure it's inflation-linked.

Not indexed to RPI or CPI, mind - but to Chelsea's funny money bookkeeping.

Absolutely ridiculous stuff from Ben Jacobs

I see Jacobs comes from the school of treating your consumer base like absolute morons and expect nobody to notice.

Aye, I dn't get this 'Wait for teh player to agree before ptting a bid in' nonsense.  What fucking difference does it make?  Not like making a bid costs you anything.

Makes the deal get completed quicker.

Player already has agreed to the personal terms. Once the club gets the offer in and they agree, there’s no hold up.

I would say it costs us our reputation if our bid was accepted but the player turned us down now. Especially after what has happened already this summer.

Exactly, I still think this is lead by agents sorting their cut before the player.

Just me or agreeing terms before signing players a relatively new thing? Seems mad you can actively talk to a player/agent without having a bid accepted by their club. Does that not blur the tappin up lines

Not if the club gave us permission.

IMO, 25m for Wissa would have been highway robbery. He is worth 35 and would win us lots of games.

The £25m fee was more how it was £15m below asking price. Was a bid that was never ever getting accepted so was just dumb and a waste of time.

We’re not allowed to remember things, that’s key to society in 2025.

That made me laugh, especially when you realize that if you don’t remember anything you can’t learn.

Clubs have been doing this for like 10-15 years, I’m genuinely surprised that people are still surprised by it.

Mainly because it’s impossible to enforce when everyone does it.

I'd advise against buying anything from a shop in Turkey if I were you
