If it goes through I would expect Liverpool to either wait until nearer the end of the transfer window to do anything or provide the same low bid as before.  It is inevitable they will assume we have to sell Isak to keep within the PSR limits.

 

if we do need the Isak money then it is going to be a huge risk as to whether Liverpool are prepared to increase their bid. 

I'd expect Liverpool to know the current PSR cycle runs until the end of June 2026, so if they come in offering even a penny below asking price they should expect an even quicker and firmer response than the one that took them aback last time out.

Depends on how our amortisation is looking. £150 million for Isak would hit the accounts this summer, where as the Sesko fee costs us £14 million.

Well it was a weird bid wasn't it.

First of all it was lower than the number they has asked us about previously, and they knew we would never accept until we had a replacement.

Just seems like they tried to put us in a better negotiation position for the strikers we were after.

Mentioned this yesterday, but from the shenanigans with Arsenal the past couple of years Sesko and his agent are working closely with Leipzig to help them get the fee they want to, as they have a great relationship with the club.

 

They are not willing to give any club leverage over Leipzig by declaring they will only join a certain club.

 

If we're bidding it is because he is willing to join us and Man United as well, and so it comes down to who satisfies Leipzig's terms.

Initially, though, both Newcastle and Man Utd would only bid if they received some encouragement from the player. So far, the only club to place a bid is Newcastle…

I don't know if it's because I'm now over 30, or it's just that I've been all in on the Cricket the last few months and kind put football to the side, but I swear I'm a lot mellower than I used to be (it could also be that it's 22:30 and I'm shattered) 

 

This signing would be exciting, really exciting, it shows that we can attract the best young talent around, and the clubs project it still heading in the right direction, but I just feel content about it, not excited, not downtrodden like some apparently, no raw emotion just content and mellow. 

 

I'm like it with the Isak situation, though that's easier, as if you're not going to give 100% for the club, kindly fuck off, I'd rather a squad of Murphy's than a squad of players who will happily throw the team under the bus.

We most definitely would. Keeping Isak here for another year, allowing us to go deep in the CL with the xtra revenue that generates, and waiting for a better market for Isak next year is absolutely the right thing to do if the alternative is, as you present, to be pressured by fucking Liverpool into a coward's decision to cash out at below the value we esteem him to be worth and at the start of the PSR cycle rather than at the end of it. Keep Isak, get a CB and CM in from the proceeds of his June sale and see us challenge on all fronts please. It's time to gamble big and give these "big six" cunts a real scare.

Of Pedro, Delap, Sesko and Etikite, probably only one ever hits Isaks level, at least one will be the next Hojlund or Nunez. Isak is the real deal.

 

All that also means the price has to be a record. For me it’s £130m plus achievable add ons that take it up past £150m. 
 

But the club should be generous and look past the anger and emotion and see whether a deal for another season can be done. Thankfully Howe doesn’t spend all his time on Twitter so probably has a cooler head than many posters
