Still don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we keep Isak until Jan or next summer as well as getting Sesko, we were apparently going to be getting Ekitike while Isak was meant to be staying, weren't we?

I don't know, doubt that Isak wanting to leave came out of thin air. Think he may have made it clear earlier on before he started with the shenanigans.

Paying so much money for a backup striker or us going 442 always seemed a little strange to me.

No chance Man Utd can afford that without selling. Also think the price pretty much confirms it’s an Isak replacement

Jamie Reuben doing the negotiations according to that, as he did with Elanga. Fair play to him stepping up

There is no way Howe switches to 4-4-2 on a regular basis.  Our midfield would be overrun.

10pm exclusives hitting like crack.

Transfer window as complex social experiment.

We're being broken down collectively and individually

By September we'll have Chi asking questions in Parliament, begging DCL to sign as our highest paid player with a clause that he always starts

Aye I don't think it came out of thin air, Ekitike was definitely his replacement but I think it was a bit more long term than a swap in the same window.

Setting myself up for a fall, I’m sure, but there’s echoes of Ferdinand replacing Cole, for me, without the months of Kitson in between. As good as Isak is individually, he’s hardly contributed a great deal to our overall team play in his time here. He’s spent most matches looking disconnected from the rest of the side, even while scoring prolifically.

Sesko might not match his goal tally, especially early on, but he might help the wingers and midfielders by giving them more to work with in terms of hold-up play and link play. We’ll actually have a forward who’ll challenge for aerial balls and give us a different outlet that way, too. It’s not sexy but it’s still a massive part of the game.

The duality of Isak for me when I watched him in person is that it feels like there's long periods of the game where he's not that involved in the team's build up. At the same time, he could pick it up and commit 3-4 men with a dribble or a piece of skill that I don't see your typical striker performing.

The primary skill needed to replace Isak is penalty area IQ for me. Given his record before us that may be something Eddie coached into him, I don't know, but his ability to be where the ball landed was very impressive. Folk talk about the Liverpool goal loads and it was very impressive, but so many of his goals last season were balls squared to him or peeling off a defender.

Very much meh on this like. Obviously not first choice and hes never a 70 million euro striker by all accounts

We're just gonna have to trust the manager on this 1. He's not done a lot wrong since he arrived. If he's sold on him it should be good enough for us.
