Yes.

Especially with the timing of this. Isak is back at the training ground with Howe for 3 hours, couple of hours later we've upped our club record bid for another striker. Certainly doesn't look good for keeping Isak, does it?

Do we know if Eddie was there today?

From the Ornstein article:

Sesko is also wanted by Manchester United, but a proposal has yet to arrive from Old Trafford and the figures they have indicated a willingness to pay are lower than those of Newcastle at present.

And this is why £150m (or god forbid even less than that) for Isak is a joke. It'll barely be enough to get two strikers in, let alone be some game changing amount of money that will let us rebuild the squad.

Howe wasn’t there

The Isak money isn't for replacement strikers, it'll be for the rest of the squad.

In the unlikely event this happens I sincerely hope we can still afford a Wilson replacement, defender and midfielder without the money for Isak.

If it goes through I would expect Liverpool to either wait until nearer the end of the transfer window to do anything or provide the same low bid as before.  It is inevitable they will assume we have to sell Isak to keep within the PSR limits.

if we do need the Isak money then it is going to be a huge risk as to whether Liverpool are prepared to increase their bid.

One of Slovenia’s biggest and most reputable newspapers

Delo, which doesn’t engage in clickbait,

never backtracked on their two stories on Friday and Saturday about Sesko choosing Newcastle… maybe they were right all the time

Surely you don’t put a bid in of that magnitude for a player who isn’t sure what he wants to do?

Yes, but reporting that won't get a bunch of engagement and clicks on social media!

Is 80+10m is true, Im thinking we are going to get a lot of money for Isak.

Liverpool will know we need to sell so they will probably just offer the same as they did before - we are taking a huge risk.

Hope this blows Manu Romanocunt away. Sounds ambitious. Love it. Can’t say we haven’t given it a go.

Be nice to give them a taste of their own medicine for a change.

Watch them start crying that we just threw a bunch of money at him and Leipzig and overpaid ;D

Feels like there is a concerted effort from various sources to bait Sesko or his representatives into publicly declaring a preference so they can use this to drive the price down.

Im sure I read somewhere Seskos team are pretty strong on making sure he picks the best choice for his development and not just following the money.

I reckon we might just get him but we may have to agree to a certain exit clause (say £130m) suppose if that ever becomes an issue it means he’s been mint anyway.

Oh great, here comes the tap in merchant, effectively jumping up and down, screaming at Ratcliffe, warning him that the cartel are potentially missing out on a talent.

If the roles were reversed and Man Utd were in pole position to land Sesko he'd be pumping out hourly updates on Seskos burning desire to represent Man Utd, photoshopping his face kn their kits etc.

FWIW, I doubt our latest offer will do the trick. I've had a bad feeling about this from the get go

Liverpool are the only bidders and we need the money (if it goes through) which weakens our position considerably

Almost daren't ask but doesn't it work differently to that, with all that tasty profit helping us over a number of years? Like doesn't Longstaff give us hundreds of billions over the next five years or something?

Mind you, even if it is that simple, 150 in and 100 out for Sesko and Wissa (and everything they theoretically provide) doesn't sound like the worst business...

I've been thinking that we have already agreed a deal and that the latest bid was just for show.
