Hes not as good as Isak but hes got tonnes going for him. This is a good point. There were games where we were hanging on for grim death where the ball just wouldn’t stick at the top end. Definitely be nice to be able to relieve the pressure a bit

One area I think he’ll be better than Isak is with his back to goal. What I've gleaned from some YouTube scouting is that he's a player with amazing god-given athleticism (height, speed, strength, stamina) who so far hasn't necessarily wanted to use those attributes to really get physical with opposing defenders. He prefers to drop deep and move into spaces that others have made for him, rather than leading the line and creating space for others. If Howe can spark a change of mindset in him, I do think he could be a really good fit. But that's not always easy or possible.

Just surprised any Newcastle fan would paint PIF giving Liverpool the money to buy Isak of us as "ideal scenario". Sounds like the sort of thing I'd expect to read on rawk. I explained it badly. Just meant if we have decided it is best for us if Isak goes but the scousers are only prepared to offer £120m then an extra £30m from PIF for Nunez might get them to give us more. Would only work if we got on well with them which we clearly don’t so it is an irrelevant thought. Ideal scenario is obviously for Isak to stay. Casey
9 minutes ago, Unbelievable said: We most definitely would. Keeping Isak here for another year, allowing us to go deep in the CL with the xtra revenue that generates, and waiting for a better market for Isak next year is absolutely the right thing to do if the alternative is, as you present, to be pressured by fucking Liverpool into a coward's decision to cash out at below the value we esteem him to be worth and at the start of the PSR cycle rather than at the end of it. Keep Isak, get a CB and CM in from the proceeds of his June sale and see us challenge on all fronts please. It's time to gamble big and give these "big six" cunts a real scare. Bit late but totally agree. I think if you look at the window you can see the intent. Our earlier choices were Mbuemo, Pedro and Trafford. We pivoted to Elanga for RW, Ekitike for ST and didn't drop that 30m~ on Trafford instead £4m loan for Ramsdale. If those incomings had came off, the spend would be somewhere approaching £150m. I think it was clear the intent was also to keep Isak alongside this. To me this indicates that we expected to sell Isak in this financial window but at the year end to tie off accounts. Leipzig played a 4-2-2-2 last season with no wingers and I don't think that got the best out of him at all. He was also used as the support striker and so was often dropping deeper to link play and so not as present in the box as Openda the other striker was. STM
In fairness to Manchester (vomit), its actually the right call from them. In the position they are in, they cant afford to spunk everything on one position, especially for a player that does offer some risk.Thats what got them in trouble in the first place. In all honesty, Wissa would make more sense for them, as a stop gap for 2 years. Man United need more players than we do and they've already spend 140m this summer. I agree but I suppose we were damned either way. Obviously we don't want to sell Isak and be left with nothing. But say we sign Sesko and Liverpool want to drive a hard bargain and sense that we need to make a sale, they could easily drag us out until the end of the summer, tying our hands in the transfer market, perhaps even holding off until next year and leaving us with an imbalanced squad and an unhappy player on our hands. It'll barely be enough to get two strikers in, let alone be some game changing amount of money that will let us rebuild the squad. Assuming we're confident that we can increase revenue significantly in the next few years. We could use that £150m up front (on the books at least) cash injection to spend a lot more than that over the next couple of years.
