Most importantly we need a centre half and a midfielder we likely can’t afford €90 euros on a Wilson replacement. We are using the Isak money is my theory he could will turn round and sign a new contract but I doubt it and I think that’s why the club are going so hard at trying to bring Šeško in Exactly, the idea that we will end the window with Sesko and Isak is fanciful, the only way that happens is if Liverpool don't even get close to our asking price and only then might we wait until next summer. Heron
Surely Sesko and Isak, or a front 3 of them and Elanga or Gordon is one of the best around?

ponsaelius
Feels like an overpay. Surely we can't sell Isak for less than 150 if this is what we're dropping on his replacement.

Mazzy
I don't think we can afford Sesko, Guehi and another CM without selling Isak. Sesko In and Isak Out is the only logical thing that can happen.

Palestoon
Not that I disagree. I think we're selling Isak if Sesko comes in. I just dont understand why we dont sit Isak down, tell him he's staying for another season, heres a bumper contract. He can link up with another great striker on the books and attack this champions league season. Or he can sulk around and go next summer on his current wage. What are the terrible downsides to this scenario? I can think of many upsides

Heron
Question...how much money did we make last season? Or more pertinently...how much do we allegedly have? Haven't we only spent like £50m? I know... "only" Edited August 4, 2025 by Heron

PSR expert on Talksport the other day estimated they could spend £400m this summer with no issue and no need to sell. Whether they’re willing to match whatever our asking price is, though, I don’t know.

Even with Isak saga going on, Elanga, Ramsdale and Sesko is at least getting somewhere. Signing Sesko may actually demonstrate some ambition from the owners which may help to appease Isak - who knows.

I don't know enough about our PSR situation. Presuming we sign Sesko, can we still chase the same targets this summer for the midfield and centre of defence without selling Isak or having to sell him before the PSR deadline next year? Wouldn't the issue there be that teams would know we need to offload by the PSR deadline so could low ball ? Alternatively he has another good season and Barce, PSG etc enter the race. Edit.... I had Isak down as leaving next summer as well. Edited August 4, 2025 by madras
Kid Icarus
Doesn't 150m potentially give us ~450m to spend because of amortisation and the 3 year rolling psr thing?

Don’t get me wrong, he'll drop in and link up, but he's much more of a conventional centre forward. He can play as a 10 - I think he'll be a great foil for Isak

Like, would they not need to sell to buy (which is obviously, also feasible). I'm not so sure Iska remaining here at least until January is all that unlikely.
