Because there was £5m difference and Man United still met what Leipzig agreed with Sesko they'd sell him for.

So Leipzig have basically done themselves out of 5m to keep a player who was leaving regardless happy? Worst business strategy ever

5m in the scheme of things is nothing this is a business tractions so maintint relationships and doing some back scratching can be beneficial elsewhere down the line.

I’m sure there was some talk of future business whether them having priority if a failed manure player is up for sale, or possibly Sesko doesn’t work out…this is how Man City buy Haaland and Marmoush for 50mil with no competition, their execs butter up the execs of other clubs, scratch each others backs

Not if the alternative is the player saying they'll just stay at Leipzig

And they're basically a franchise, £5m is pretty insignificant

I keep seeing this, but your offer was €80m+€5m in add-ons.

Ours is €76.5m+€8.5m in easy add-ons. Romano has said it's basically €85m guaranteed.

The bids were pretty much the same.

Compare that to the fiasco we have in place...

INEOS get no credit for this kind of things, but they've put an extremely competent executive structure in place with the likes of Berrada, Wilcox and Vivell.

Woodward would have fired £200m at Leipzig for this.

What have they've achieved though, Leipzig have had your pants down with a daft fee as they would have with us.

It's a very expensive gamble.

Ai says this

Based strictly on the official annual net-loss figures, Manchester United have lost approximately £257 million over the last three financial years. But announcements and analysis often cite over £300 million in total losses, likely incorporating other costs or interim figures beyond the published year‑end numbers.

Compliant with par so allowable losses over this period are 190m ;)

Well our main problem was goals. So they've went out and signed two of the best players in the league and one of the highest rated young strikers on the continent. Minimal fuss. We took a lot of time with Mbeumo because he only wanted us, so we could afford to hash it out until we were happy. All three of them on decent wages as well, instead of being handed £300k.

That's an achievement compared to what we've done in the past.

Huge pressure on Amorim now though. We won't accept a mediocre attack with a team that consists of Fernandes, Amad, Mbeumo, Cunha and Sesko.

Not even trolling when I say I honestly think he will be gone by Christmas. For all those new signings, it's only really Cunha who is going to be ready to make an early impact. Mbeumo looks weeks away from being match fit, and Sesko (who is a risk anyway) is likely going to need a season to bed in.

If they gave Amorim the entire season he'd probably get it right in the second half and you'd finish strong. But given the time he's already have I think if he has a shaky start, which is very possible, they will get nervous and sack him.
