He used to get exposed on getting beaten near post quite a lot at Arsenal, it still happens.

Absolutely mental if we sign this guy for what I'd expect £10m / £100K+ a week

Clause is 20m iirc. Assuming we are paying his salary in full and we've already given them 5m

Think he'll go to a newly-promoted club or one of the Old Firm this summer. Think the half dozen games or so he had when Pope first got injured has made up peoples minds on him. He's not brilliant but he's not been half as bad as made out since then. Certainly no worse than Pope, but you have at least got a keeper who'll help you play out. We need two keepers this summer though.

Most likely aye. £5M loan fee £5M in wages for a subpar keeper for the year. Pretty nuts.

A lot of rancid business done last summer. Let's hope the club and the players involved can turn it around.

Good God lads. Not everything about the summer has to be viewed with such disdain. We needed a backup goalie and that's what he is. Even they cost money, unfortunately. We could easily have ended up with someone worse for that position.

He's a bit rubbish but he isn't Dubravka 23/24 bad. Done fine in the cups and made the difference in Round 3 especially.

Was beaten by a very decent strike at the near post. Saved a penalty (again), unlucky that Murphy was slow to react. Made a couple of excellent saves.

N-O reaction basically that he shouldn’t be paid actual money as a salary.

A good keeper saves their first goal, simply by being positioned better and being a step across to his left. Keepers shouldn't get beaten at their near post like that. The rest I tend to agree with.

I've noticed Ramsdale's game is always chaos. Every movement is chaotic [emoji38]. It's almost like he doesn't know his angles as something can be 5-10 yards wide and he will scramble a sprint across his goal to still dive to cover it.

He seems a really decent bloke who really cares, but the first rule of goalkeeping is to make the goal seem as small as possible to the attacker. Positioning, coming off your line and staying upright and as big as possible for as long as possible all help. He does not seem to be particularly good at any of these and the amount of times he ends up on his knees or on the deck wherever the shot has gone is crazy. Also he seems to have an odd habit of occasionally diving too soon or diving too late.

I 100% agree with your first point.

As for his ability I think Dubs 25/26 is better than him never mind 23/24. Wasn’t a fan before he came but he’s been worse than I thought TBH. Anything goal bound feels like it’s going in so far.

A better GK and we wouldn't have needed ET or pelanties.

This isn't true at all. This wasn't a shot from a tight angle. If he takes a step to his left he leaves the rest of the goal wide open. His positioning was fine.

I'd choose Pope over Ramsdale every single time. Pope might make mistakes, but Ramsdale doesn't inspire confidence at all imo. Pope at least dominates his area and the defenders will always know he's there. Can't say the same about Ramsdale.

It's a jarring experience to watch. He's literally a second or two behind where Pope would be when coming out of goal. Even though he gets the ball, there's a moment of panic where you think "where's Ramsdale?"

Similar thing with crosses. It's a lot of defending to do with Ramsdale there.

I forgot about the FA Cup mistake tbh. It's that type of delay which is constant.

It really wasn't. He needs to be a step over to his left. It's fundamental goalkeeping. Make the striker try to go across you rather than slip it into your near post. A goalkeeper never wants to be beaten like how he was for that 1st goal.
