Feel like Jackson has gradually transformed from being a footballing meme to being Pelé's regen over the course of this summer.

He's literally the bang average lass that suddenly looks like an absolute worldie after you've had a dry spell.

He's just a better option than Gordon for me at this point. That's it.

Not fair really. He is incredibly hard working and a massive handful for defenders, he’s got pace, really good vision and awareness. He just can take too long on the ball and he’s not a natural finisher. If he can improve on his decision making on the ball he’ll score tons at any club that moves the ball quickly

I'm talking about perception on the forum. Not my personal opinion on him.

There’s clearly a player there. Chelsea wouldn’t have signed him and he wouldn’t be linked with Bayern and whoever else if he weren’t talented.

Strong argument to be made that his strengths haven’t been utilized at Chelsea (to say nothing of the general chaos that comes with buying and selling a billion players every year). I do think he’s probably a system-dependent player rather than a world class player in any situation; I wouldn’t expect him to consistently hit 20+ goals ala Isak, but he’s clearly capable of double digits and I think he’d elevate the players around him.

A lot of the forum reaction is, understandably, 1) cope  and 2) context/timing. A lot of folks would be higher on him if we had targeted him as Wilson’s replacement at the start of the summer and we knew Isak was locked in for the season. Now the link feels like a flailing, knee-jerk reaction.

His goal record is pretty average for the price Chelsea want. 14 goals in 35 and 10 in 30

To me it’s not terrible for someone that’s not on penalties. I think he was doing well until the second half of last season.

He's a donkey with moments of excellence. Could Howe make those moments of excellence a more of a regular thing, maybe.

I don't think anyone on here would've even contemplated signing him if we weren't two weeks away from the window closing and so desperate for a striker (or two).

I don't know why but describing footballers as donkeys has always made me laugh

Me too, I always picture them arse to goal ready to punt the ball top shelf with their hind legs or bop it in with their snout. [emoji38]

Struggling to understand why we don’t just go for him.

Seems to be very overpriced, but with 2 weeks left of the window, this is what you are left with.

I would only consider Jackson if it was a loan deal with an option to buy.

Could insert a clause in whereby if he scores 15+ goals in the league then we'd buy him for £60m

Would be a "Heavy Loan Fee" - In the words of Fabrizio Romano
