When did Connor Gallagher become the most popular and sought after midfielder in world football on this forum?

Every thread some fucker is mentioning him

Most hated the idea of signing him from Chelsea too.

How much is that spent now assuming this goes though?  152M I believe with Wissa still in progress.

Did we have that much room or is the traitor gone?

edit: Plus 175k for Park.....;)

Between Ramsdale, Thiaw, and this guy, we definitely seem to have a type in terms of buying the dip on players who were very highly rated two years ago before running into some adversity.

Which is a mid table thing to do

For what it’s worth, a few Villa YouTubers have done some videos tonight, and the comments sections are full of Villa fans gutted and believing that they should be holding out for £55m+.

So perhaps, just perhaps, this is a good signing and Eddie knows what he’s doing.

We can't afford or entice top 6 caliber players yet, so it's either do mid table shit or nowt. As long as we've got Eddie we're gold.

I don't mind this deal at all. Going into this window my priorities were addressing RW, RCB, GK, backup ST and backup CM. Our starting 11 is very good, but scratch beneath the surface and our squad depth leaves a lot to be desired, so I think it's more sensible that we're using what funds we have available to raise the floor of the squad with 5-7 additions rather than spending big on one or two purples hoping to raise the ceiling a bit.

Ramsey is a comfortable improvement on Longstaff and Willock and I don't care about the price, 40m today is what 20m was 5 years ago. Go find me an obtainable 24 year old English midfielder with PL and CL experience for under 40m who would improve our squad.

His true value is probably higher but like with Hall/Livra/Barnes etc were buying a 'stressed asset', taking advantage of a particular set of circumstances, in this case, Villa's PSR pickle. The exact same way we ended up losing Anderson and Minteh basically.

No matter what anyone thinks, if Eddie sees something in him, that's good enough for me. He should've earned everyone's trust by now.

Yep me too - and it looks like there is a good chance of the back-up CF in the form of Wissa joining once Brentford source a replacement.  If Isak hadn't been acting the cunt (or we'd sourced his replacement) then this window would be looking a lot rosier.

Words/phrases that have really irked me from this transfer window.

"only wants/only ever wanted"

"keen to explore"

Pissed me off so much reading these.

What you’re referring to is mid table clubs buying too 6 castoffs when they are past it.

That is quite obviously not what we’ve been doing since the takeover nor what the comment you replied to was saying.

I 100% agree. Ending up potentially a good window minus the traitor.
