Jaqen
Thing is even if he flops it's quite hard for English players like that to totally tank in value. Another club would take a chance on him for £35m next year.
McDog
How much is that spent now assuming this goes though? 152M I believe with Wissa still in progress. Did we have that much room or is the traitor gone? edit: Plus 175k for Park..... Edited August 12, 2025 by McDog

Pata
I don’t think £40m is that bad for a 24 year old English player who has a decent pedigree already. If he isn’t a success, we can always get £25-30m back from some club.

Shadow Puppets
For what it’s worth, a few Villa YouTubers have done some videos tonight, and the comments sections are full of Villa fans gutted and believing that they should be holding out for £55m+. So perhaps, just perhaps, this is a good signing and Eddie knows what he’s doing.
TheBrownBottle
Provided he stays fit, I think this is a quality signing - the usual 'English premium' applies in any case. He'd be able to challenge Joelinton for that third midfielder slot - which is what is needed.

Moose
I don't mind this deal at all. Going into this window my priorities were addressing RW, RCB, GK, backup ST and backup CM. Our starting 11 is very good, but scratch beneath the surface and our squad depth leaves a lot to be desired, so I think it's more sensible that we're using what funds we have available to raise the floor of the squad with 5-7 additions rather than spending big on one or two purples hoping to raise the ceiling a bit. Ramsey is a comfortable improvement on Longstaff and Willock and I don't care about the price, 40m today is what 20m was 5 years ago. Go find me an obtainable 24 year old English midfielder with PL and CL experience for under 40m who would improve our squad. His true value is probably higher but like with Hall/Livra/Barnes etc were buying a 'stressed asset', taking advantage of a particular set of circumstances, in this case, Villa's PSR pickle. The exact same way we ended up losing Anderson and Minteh basically. No matter what anyone thinks, if Eddie sees something in him, that's good enough for me. He should've earned everyone's trust by now. Edited August 12, 2025 by Moose

If Isak hadn't been acting the cunt (or we'd sourced his replacement) then this window would be looking a lot rosier.
